McDonald only has his range of passing that's any good. You can criticise all other areas of his game the same way you have. He's still a bloody good midfielder and worth around the same £4m as Lansbury.

Who said I rate McDonald especially highly?

It's just a similar player for comparison in which you can level the same sort of criticisms. Both are good players though and worth around the same amount.

If someone offered £2m for Kev I'd snap their hand off, let alone double that.

There's no way we'd sell him for less than £3-4m IMO.

Coady wasn't worth £2m but that's what we had to pay.

Yes, but that's not the point, is it. You're trying to convince me Lansbury is a cracking midfielder and using one of our own midfielders who I don't think is that good as a comparison probably won't work.

Well I rate McDonald a lot higher than you, and I think Lansbury is at a similar level. Macca was my POTS last season.

He wouldn't have got in the top five.

Out of interest (and I hate playing this card, but there you go) how many games did you see?

Around ten or so with Sky games.

Then I don't think you can really name a player of the season.

Ok, he was the best player I saw all season if you want to be pedantic.

Which games? Because I had him as MOTM in a total of 0 games last season.

I'm sorry but that's rubbish IMO.

I agree with you on Lansbury though, I have no idea why Dyche has been so fixated on him the past few transfer windows. Personally, if I was going to sign a Forest midfielder it'd be Ben Osborn.

What's rubbish? That if you've only seen a fraction of games you can't nominate a player of the season for the entire season? That seems entirely reasonable to me.

Here's the latest Beyoncé album - you can only listen to three out of the twelve. Give me your best track of the album.

Yes but by making it Beyonce you're just wasting everybody's time.

They're all shite.

Seriously though, last season I went to 16 games, the first time I've been to more than 4 or 5 over a full season. I don't think that put me in a better position to nominate a POTS than the year before, you can form a perfectly valid opinion without attending every game.

I don't trust my own judgment based on TV coverage.

I wasn't having a go at you, was I.

It was Bear saying McDonald was our best player with some kind of authority when actually no, he wasn't and in any case he couldn't say either way.

Managed 10 games live plus 2 or 3 others via Sky last year, plus enough match reports from those I have met & would respect the opinion of to accept their view of performance to formulate a view on who was POTS.

Hopefully this doesn't descend into a 'you don't go to enough games so have no valid view discussion.
