Mercedes getting battered by Alfa Romeo, Alpine and Haas. How are they still so shit

Apparently the big upgrade is available in the next race.
Obviously won't get them near the RB's race pace but maybe challenging Ferrari more.

They made a poor call to stick with the shitty design from last season thinking they could sort it as they pulled things back late last season

Well as they pulled things back did they not sort it? Or has everyone else ripped that up and gone even better?

If so that’s not a poor call, that’s a monumentally shit call

Oof. That's it, LeClerc bins it and messes the grid up. Unlucky Max 😂

Few new regs this year didn't help but their design was always behind the Red Bull. Had 2 designs for this seasons and trusted stuff such as the wind tunnel data.

If the update is what they say it is, the car will look very different in Imola.

It was behind but they were competing for race wins at the end. They are nowhere near that now and Aston and Ferrari are who they were ahead of

Mercedes are embarrassing at this point, imagine going through all of last season getting battered except 1 race and then going ‘oh yeah let’s stick with this design’

Be interesting to see just how much of a difference their upgrade makes next race.

At least tomorrow will be mildly interesting as Max spends 8 laps getting up to 2nd place. Then seeing if he gets close enough to Perez for some Team orders to kick in...

Qualifies 8th or whatever it is and still bosses it. Waste of time this season

How did a mixed up grid like this once again turn into a bit of a yawn fest. I can really see Hamilton either leaving the sport or trying to get himself a move to Ferrari next year.

46 lap old Hard tyres and was quicker than Perez. Goes on the mediums and naturally even quicker. At least when Merc dominated Rosberg and Hamilton were competitive.

I reckon Red Bull had no interest in making this competitive the way they offered no info to Perez and told him to "lift and coast"

Yep another dreary race even with the mixed up grid.

If this was any other situation, in a couple of laps Perez would be called in for Mediums given lead over 3rd to try and get the fastest lap. I reckon there is about a 5% chance of that happening today

I have to get up at stupid o clock or stay up late for the European races. Even Singapore isn’t at a great time. And it’s so fearsomely dull. Doubt I will bother this season. It’s a crap spectacle.

Wouldn't be worth the risk of having to pass Alonso. He'd be 3.5-4s behind with five to go.

Another clinic from Max, unfortunately.
Perfect to come in now, 20 secs ahead with 2 laps. Definitely worth it

I just think everything points to Red Bull not ever wanting to upset Max. I've missed F1 seasons before, I think I might just give up on the rest of this one too, find something better to do (I probably would've today but for it being a Sunday night). As per you Paddy, when I lived +7 hours away I didn't bother with any of this.

Yeah I stopped watching during those years as well - very likely this will be the same for the next two seasons at least. The Americanisation of the sport and the obsession with shit street circuits isn’t helping either.

I've hardly seen a lap this year and I haven't missed it one bit. I've come to the conclusion that the only reasons I've continued to watch every race since it got boring (c. 1995, iirc) are habit and optimism. I've now broken the first and run out of the second. Unless F1 gets its act together, I can see it dying. Once everyone who can remember real racing from the likes of Villeneuve (Gilles), Prost, Lauda, Senna et al. has passed away, surely people will just look at these processions and think, Why? I find BTTC much more interesting these days.
