The F1 Thread

Saying that, Alonso overtakes Sainz into P3 as Leclerc retires with power unit issues.

The move on Lewis by Alonso was fuckin superb.

Well, this is dull.

The only interesting battle is Mercedes v Aston Martin.
Helpfully though, it frees up 22 Sunday's for the rest of the year because there's no way I'm staying in to watch much more of this over the year.

I’ll keep watching but Verstappen might actually win every race. Hopefully come good battles for third place though 🤷🏻‍♂️

I will not keep watching. It’s dull as ditchwater and Verstappen is a terrible human being.

Be back in a few years maybe.

I feel like I've been waiting for F1 to get exciting again for about 30 years. It's not going to happen, is it?

Why cant anyone else design a car? And why can’t Ferrari build an engine still…

Merc got themselves semi competitive back end of last year, Red Bull had wind tunnel penalties yet they are still nearly a minute behind…

Should be some racing for a few laps today with Max in 15th.
Then expect Red Bull to engineer it that Perez gives up the lead just after the first batch of pit stops.

Do away with qualifying. Start in reverse order based on championship position. You're leading the championship then start at the back.

More overtaking, more drama and unfortunately probably more crashes too.

I reckon it would be more exciting though

The pack behind the RB is very close and hopefully the season opener isn't how it will be.

RB are where Merc were 4 or 5 seasons back. Its annoying mainly because Max and Horner are uber cunts. Down to the rest to catch them though just like RB did on Merc.

It's boring as hell though watching lap after lap when nothing happens.

I think qualifying means the chances of anything interesting happening are reduced because you're already putting generally the fastest cars at the front. Slower cars are less likely to try to overtake faster cars.

If I'm 12th in Saudi Arabia then what's to stop me junking laps, not contesting properly when cars overtake so I finish 19th/20th and I'm on the front row next time rather than somewhere in the middle? I get 0 points either way.

Don't see how it's workable.

In that scenario it becomes a race to see who can finish the distance in the slowest time without going over the time. Any DNFs automatically go to the back of the next grid.

I will admit, this is still in draft at the moment before I submit the idea to the FIA

What do you do for the first few races when the majority of the grid is on zero points?

Two options

1) points all the way to last place. Hopefully would help curb sandbagging too. may need to think about upping the amount of points the top ten get
2) finishing order in previous campaign for first race. Newbies get to go to the front

Just the 32 laps the FIA had to assess whether there's an infringement by Aston. Clearly it is a penalty but let's leave it until after the race.
I think a team raised it. Not a mention of it until a few laps before the end so not something they spotted themselves

Aston Martin appealed and won. Alonso back in 3rd place.

Lovely farce.
