The F1 Thread

Better than nothing I guess. Horner said it was Ferrari engines or jacking in.

So Manor would have a better engine than Red Bull

Are Haas using Ferrari engines next season?

Oh dear. Red Bull have really backed themselves into a right corner there. Maybe they could ask Honda for an engine just for the bantz?

Technically they can still use the Renault engine as that agreement hasn't been ripped up yet. Renault said once all deals to supply engines are up they won't be renewing them.

I like RoGro, I think he's destined to have a Hülkenberg style career though of bouncing around mid-level teams, more talented than others who have better drives but without the profile or sponsorship readies behind him.

Not sure on Haas. Could go either way.

They're both set for Heidfeld careers. Hulk has missed the boat for a big drive, ala Heidfeld in 2003 and Grosjean just hasn't quite got there, despite a few cracking drives.

Haas should fare better than the HRT, Virgin, Spyker etc jokeshops we've had in recent years. They seem to have planned it through thoroughly and haven't rushed it. They're going to have a quality power unit too.

Grosjean is trying to use Haas as a way into Ferrari.

With all the help they have got from Italy they are effectively the Ferrari B team.

He's got a shot at it as there are no glaringly obvious candidates once Kimi has retired.

I can't see Seb allowing Ricciardo alongside him again.

Bottas would be the main candidate I reckon. He needs to be careful that he doesn't drift into Hulk/Gro territory though.

I have an inkling they'll go for Max V.

Assuming Red Bull exist in one form or another - he's going to be locked in there you'd imagine.

He needs to grow up too. I'm not sure he could live with a Ferrari drive at the moment.

Max Verstappen celebrates his 18th Birthday by passing his driving test! I guess he didn't do his parking like the one in Qualifying on Saturday

The Australian grand prix used to be season finale, now it is the season opener, I wonder why that is?

It's been the opener for about 20 years!

They swapped it a few years ago as the Aussies got fed up with it being a dead rubber.

Surely they could put Azerbaijan in the free week between Italy and Singapore. What is the point in flying from Montreal to Baku to then fly back to Austria the next week? At least Baku is on the way between Monza and Singapore.

Might have something to do with Bernie's logistics company. Extra fees for f1 teams to urgently ship shit around the world and back.
