The F1 Thread

They swapped it a few years ago as the Aussies got fed up with it being a dead rubber.
And the reason Abu Dhabi had the double points introduced to get a title decider. Their oil money wasn't getting it's full value.

Or if you were being cynical, they don't expect the Baku GP to actually happen so they've put it in a slot that makes no sense. They did it with Korea a couple of years ago.

Baku is pretty much nailed on. Lots and lots of money already handed over.

Button confirmed as driving with McLaren next season

Mercedes confirm they will supply Manor with engines next season. Massive improvement surely awaits the worst team on the grid

They certainly shouldn't be getting lapped quite so regularly. We might find out how close to the mid-table guys their drivers are.

Unless Honda make a massive leap in the winter they could be the new Manor.

Aren't they using Ferrari this year? I think their all round package is rubbish. No point having the best power if you can't utilise it and your aero is shit

Old Ferrari engines.

The likely back markers are going to both have very nice power units.

Honda better improve sharpish...

As Nando say's - Its old engines. the 2014 spec that they got about a week before the season started and had to slap in the engine and hope for the best. Mercs will be supplying them the 2016 engine.

As for Honda - I give Alonso 3 races next season and if they are the same as this season he will walk away.

Manor will have Williams suspension and transmission too.

It swapped when the race moved from Adelaide to Melbourne. There was an Australian GPs following another at that time.

Ferrari will supply Toro Rosso but not Red Bull.

Alonso was asked if he fears that McLaren will be at the back of the grid next season when the Manor team are using Merc engines

"With all respect to Manor, you could put a plane engine in their car and it would still be last"

:icon_biggrin:

Practise sessions are pointless today

P1 - Delayed start as a machine was out cleaning the track last night. Did a great job hoovering up but at the same time it was dumping its diesel on the track!! Despite a major clean up job the area that happened was major risk to drive at speed through. Fastest car was around 8 seconds slower than last year. Hulkenberg was the quickest, just ahead of Nico (who spent most of his time doing practise starts rather than times). Lewis down in 7th after he spun on a flying lap.

P2 - Pissing down with rain. No one going out at the moment.

Just 8 cars did a timed lap in P2.

Both Mercs only went out to practice starts. Kimi and Riciardo both stayed in the pits all session.

Massa the quickest with Bottas 2nd.

Ludicrous scenes in Sochi.

GP3 are basically running in the dark. Huge crash at Turn 3 and there are no marshals anywhere to be seen.

Mercedes won't change their mind and I think they will call red bull's bluff. This toys out of the pram thing is pathetic.
