The 2024 Paris Olympics Thread

Another properly bent boxing decision. No way Verde won that fight.
I thought they got that one right, and was surprised our boxer was ahead after two rounds - some of the earlier ones were well dodgy though.

Is there a reason all the women's skateboarders are like 12-17? I've not seen it mentioned as being a junior category, surely there's 20-odd year olds that do it?
GB competitor in the male event today is 51

She's been banned from birdies by the look of her score

They haven't specifically banned it for her. The IOC wanted everywhere in the Paris olympics to be smoke free. This included all venues, and applies to spectators and athletes.

I know yes but as far as I know she was the only 'athlete' who was known to smoke apart from the Japanese gymnast that was sent home the other week

Why, it's a racing incident?

Mills then angrily confronted Hay after crossing the finish line, before asserting to the BBC that he had been stepped on.

He finished 18th, but tournament organisers ruled that Mills had been impeded and sent him through along with Hay and the other fallers - meaning 20 men will compete in the 5,000m final on Saturday.

Tbh it's going to be a disappointing gold medal total versus expectation. We've had a lot of silver and bronzes from people who were favourites in their events and are going to trail Australia for the first time since 2004

The Americans by contrast have performed outrageously against their season form. Hmmm...
