Summer 2021 transfer window

Only 7 months until we see that FFP was a total load of bollocks and the club registered a healthy profit (unless we’re bleeding millions somehere we never were before).

Not that that has any bearings on this summers activity, as thats 19 months away.

Anyone know why financial results aren’t published until so long afterwards?

I was contemplating trying to get a ticket for Brentford.

Can't be arsed with them now. I'll just stay home and watch it on TV.

Usually for no other reason other than they can. Quite a few clubs like to pull the old name / address change to buy themselves extra time too.

It will be the same time period as for any limited company under law.

On the activities around Botman, DCC, Moore, Renato etc, it's pretty appalling that - on the 31st of fucking August - we didn't know how much it'd take to get them, or if they wanted to join.

If Mendes isn't involved, we're fucking clueless. If Mendes is involved, we're narrowing our talent pool.

It's so fucking amateur.

The thing is last summer we were told by some, we had a net spend of 0 because the Championship season was still on the books for the 3 year FFP calculations. "Next season we will be able to flex our muscles."

Now the next season is here and it hasn't happened the UEFA FFP thing is being used as the reason even though loads of people have dispelled this as bollocks. We've got the same again though - "next season we can spend big"

Next season there will be a new excuse why we can't spend. It's an ongoing cycle, some people love to bury their heads in the sand and defend the club no matter what they do and will accept anything they come out with rather than facing facts that they don't want to invest.

I tend to defend the people running the club more often than not. Sure I’ve been left to feel underwhelmed with previous transfer windows but we did at least, you know, sign some actual players rather than reduce the size of an already small squad. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I’ll be very suprised if anyone on here tries to defend the club today. I certainly won’t.

We've already had the transfers aren't the same as going to the supermarket line

I can’t even say I must have missed that post because I responded to it myself I think……see I didn’t see that as defending the club as such. But then you know how naive I can be at times with stuff like this.

Oh I agree. Said it a couple of times already - it's a no win situation for them. But it's also about accountability. It's the same reason people want Mike Dean or Stuart Atwell hauled out in front of the cameras after a match when they've made a ridiculous decision. Accountability. It doesn't make things better, but when they can sit there and smugly tell us to "trust them", they can also sit there and squirm because they've been shit. Take the rough with the smooth and all that.

Like Johnny said, I suspect they'll say nothing. They probably don't even realise this is how the fans feel.
Oh they do alright. They are not posting anything on SM. They know what will happen in the comments. I haven't seen the twitter account because I can't access it in the day, but I can see IG. Not a peep from Wolves, when normally they have 4 or 5 posts a day asking for people to buy their shit, or video clips. Not even the players are posting, which again is at least twice a day on IG. I'd wager they (players) have been told not to.

They know they have fucked up. What is probably happening behind the scenes is how do they limit the damage.
From a professional organisation owned by a multi billion pound corporation it's a pretty piss poor show, and it'll take some grovelling for them to get past this. In the short term anyway.

They posted ticket info on Twitter. The replies were as you'd expect

Also had an email off them this morning trying to flog their new training gear...

Nothing in fact I think it was a profit, but it's not like we didn't spend the money. We spent double figures millions on 3 players - the issue is 2 of them a year later aren't in our best 11 and probably weren't planned to be at this stage and the other hasn't played to the value of the investment. It's not what we spent, it's what we spent it on
I’d say that’s very different to say Everton and Villa (minus grealish obv this year)

fact is we haven’t strengthened IMO and most teams to strengthen don’t show a profit. That’s one of the main issues

Don't really want to go round in circles, but the money from Cav, Costa and Doherty came to about £50m, they were all surplus to requirements. Whether it's net spend or not that's not £50m that came from weakening the starting 11 (appreciate Doherty was in it, but clear then and even moreso now that Nuno wanted to move on) even the Jota sale is debatable given at the time he (incorrectly imo) wasn't in the managers starting 11. The point is we had money to spend and spent it badly or if you are being generous badly in the short to medium term.

They have to say something today or it will more or less confirm (in the general public's eyes) that Fosun are completely checked out from running the club at all.

I haven't been this despondent about things since Morgan put the club up for sale.

I reckon it's because you hate Jeff Shi more than I hate Dean Saunders.
