Summer 2021 transfer window

What would be the point? There are only three possible answers:

- We fucked up (right, not exactly doing your own career any favours there, and no-one is going to say "ah, it's ok" are they)
- Other clubs stiffed us at the last minute (could be true, but people won't believe it even if it is, and we should have multiple options)
- We're happy with the squad (we already know this isn't true)

And no-one is going to be placated by anything they say, even if it's the greatest excuse in the world. Just a waste of time.
I can see them coming out with something today though, with a mixture of clubs demanding silly fees, players not wanting to come and how we choosing to keep adama/neves means we had less to spend

But every man and his dog knows that's bollocks, that would be another PR disaster to add to the ones they are racking up on a frequent basis.

It wouldn't tie in with the press conferences before the window shut with Bruno and Jeff either.

Jeff can't afford another PR disaster because it'll be 'Jeff Shi is a wanker' sung out from the stands. And that's some embarrassment for him.

Best for the club to say absolutely nothing at the moment.

Finding out on the last day of the window that a player doesn't want to come is ridiculous. If you leave your shopping until the last minute you need more than a couple of items on your list in case they're not in stock or the ones in stock are damaged. In this case it wasn't really a surprise Sanches was exactly that.

Can’t blame skint French clubs asking silly fees when(a small number of irresponsible) English clubs are chucking lunatic money at Ramsdale et al

I'm sure Jeff sending out a video saying "It's Arsenal's fault" would calm our lot down :D

I wouldn't be placated but they might go some way to begin rebuilding some of the faith that's been lost if they came out and said something along the lines of:

We know we've fucked up here, we know the squad needs strengthening, we're going to learn our lessons and we'll be working tirelessly between now and January to make sure that happens.

What'll probably happen is vomit inducing faux positively with emojis like this 🔥💥💪, just fuck off with that shit.

Oh I agree. Said it a couple of times already - it's a no win situation for them. But it's also about accountability. It's the same reason people want Mike Dean or Stuart Atwell hauled out in front of the cameras after a match when they've made a ridiculous decision. Accountability. It doesn't make things better, but when they can sit there and smugly tell us to "trust them", they can also sit there and squirm because they've been shit. Take the rough with the smooth and all that.

Like Johnny said, I suspect they'll say nothing. They probably don't even realise this is how the fans feel.

If they choose that approach it will just add more anger. Even you fuck up, you need to acknowledge it. A brave club right now would apologise on their failure to bring more in, but acknowledge some of the reasons why. I'm still not going to write off this season based on this though, you never know we might just get lucky on the injuries front. Although the target can't really be Europe now, but staying up (the competition isn't that good and our manager has shown he is likely to keep us 11-14th at a canter). And a cup run might be possible, plus our only chance of Europe. But we better have signings lined up for January regardless, and not on the 31st.

I don't want to hear from them unless it is about the partial refund they want to give on my season ticket and an all round reduction of match day tickets.

The whole summer has been a PR mess from the club and either they don't realise or don't care.
It's too early in the season for it to affect attendances, but it's £41 to watch Brentford in the Steve Bull. Good luck getting that next season if the trajectory of travel remains the same

That home game against Brentford is critical, it's on TV, it's the first game back at home after this messy window, it could go one of two ways regardless of the result with Watford it's the first opportunity we'll have to voice our displeasure.

If Brentford beat us i think we will hear "Shi is a wanker" from the fans, and it'll be a horrific toxic mess moving forward, if we beat them the anger will largely dissipate and we'll all feel a lot better.

for key targets you'd think the desire of the player to move, likely fees/wages and extent of any injury (unless it's just happened) would have been tested way beforehand. i'm struggling with the logic of waiting so late to get into those discussions, unless the selling clubs were waiting on something. you'd surely end up having to pay more usually by leaving it so late

As I said over the summer, the club took a lot of concurrent gambles that they didn't need to make, and by not making sufficient signings (I think for the first time ever we are all agreed on that) then the stakes have just got even higher.

If we're bottom on 0 points after 5 games (regardless of how many we "deserve") then it looks terrible on so many levels.

That executive team is what I'd expect of a League One club, not one that should be top half in the Premier League. It's too thin in terms of numbers and not one of them has the background I would expect them to have. Add to which they're all terrible communicators with the exception of Sellars who seems alright, but isn't particularly well suited to that role. Bruno seems a good guy, we all like the football, but it's results that count and as we all know, he wouldn't have got any other Premier League job this summer.

I suppose in terms of communication they need to survey the thoughts of Lars from Aarhus and Guadalajara Wolves before they pitch their message.

One thing they could do is tell us how far away Neto, Yerson, Boly, Jonny and Jordao are from recovery, assuming the news is better than we think, that would at least be positive.

Boly was on the bench vs United. So there's your nugget of information for the day :D

Hope we don`t place too much emphasis on the Carabo flippin cup now. Need to safeguard against injuries ay it?

Watching the behind the scenes Hwang Hee-Chan signing video on YouTube, I know they had cameras in their faces but it all seemed very cringey and amateurish when he was led into Compton to meet Shi.

Boly and Mosquera are both in full training again
