Summer 2021 transfer window

What are your two bits of bad luck? The way the manager has us set up and the way Rauls playing been playing I don’t think an injury to him changes much. We probably would have been more effective with a match fit Hwang in there In a fluid front 3.

Neves injury is the blow, but we would get by.

Bar the freak Raul head injury, I don’t think Raul, Neves, Moutinho have been injured since they’ve been here. So the chances of all 3 of them being injured for an extended period of time is remote, and I’m not sure we’d be massively worse off if it was Raul and Moutinho inured anyway.
On Sunday we were 3 inches away from losing Neves for the season!

"freak" injuries happen, as do suspensions. It's not implausible that two of our midfielders pick up injuries or suspensions. Especially as we are playing at a higher tempo.

If that happens we are then moving Saiss into midfield or starting Luke Cundle, which isn't great is it?!

You must have me on ignore! Said the same thing 5 mins before you...🤣

Could we lose both Boly and Saiss to the African Cup?
Opportunity to get reinforcements in for the period they miss though isn't there? Suppose it depends how early they join up with their squads if they miss any of the Christmas schedule but window is open before the tournament starts.

Well yeah, if we lose our first 10 games and the performances drop off, than obviously people will start to look at the manager and the players - but the way Bruno has them playing in such a short space of time indicates that won't be the case.

What people are frustrated about (and where the finger of blame is being quite rightly pointed) is that Jeff Shi and his recruitment team have failed to back the manager adequately. They have failed at their jobs. It's almost come across as a middle finger up at the manager that THEY have literally just appointed. Not to mention the players who all said they wanted more to join the group (Donk, Coady & others have all mentioned it in interviews).
It’s like they’ve given a left-handed guitar player a right-handed guitar and told him to play better than Johnny Marr. It’s making his task way more difficult, when the reality is they should be giving a new manager the best tools they can to make his job easier.

Opportunity is one thing, I think faith in the club successfully acquiring a proper option there is rock bottom right now.

Let's hope Mosquera is a proper option we already have

Oh aye, the window. I suppose we`ll be in a position to know how we stand at that time.

Especially if the point of parting with Nuno was to effect a fresh start with new ideas, blood and impetus

We can speculate as to whether Bruno wants to try 4 at the back (but given he played it exclusively at benfica and he tried it here it's a safe bet), but the fact is we've handcuffed him to 5 at the back through a terrible recruitment strategy

I haven't watched Leeds but keep noting they play a 3-3-3-1 with essentially the full backs supporting a single DM. I guess that's our only option if we have a critical injury...

Its going to be a long tough winter. If we had bought in the CM and the CB we badly need, we could have been thinking Europa League again, that just aint happenin now. Thanks a fucking bunch Jeff.

No they do happen and I think it’s dreadful from the club. Still don’t think we’d get relegated though, that’s all my point is

What pisses me off, is a couple of seasons ago we were up there, we were growing up to be with the big boys. After yesterdays disaster we are again a million miles away from them. Sad, so fucking sad.

Didn't know too much about Kamara before being linked with him yesterday, so I looked in to him a bit more. Here are some stats for him last season:

Boubacar Kamara in Ligue 1 last season [club rank]:
332 ball recoveries [1st]
163 passes into the final third [1st]
145 progressive passes [1st]
132 tackles + interceptions [3rd]
55 fouls won [1st]

And we didn't want to pay £12m for him. Heard a few rumours he wasn't too keen on coming here, but surely if we'd made him feel wanted and like one of our main targets earlier in the window, there could have been a deal done?

I would really like to hear from Shi or Sellars this week. As per my post earlier this morning, they're fucked either way, but it's the least they could offer us.

What would be the point? There are only three possible answers:

- We fucked up (right, not exactly doing your own career any favours there, and no-one is going to say "ah, it's ok" are they)
- Other clubs stiffed us at the last minute (could be true, but people won't believe it even if it is, and we should have multiple options)
- We're happy with the squad (we already know this isn't true)

And no-one is going to be placated by anything they say, even if it's the greatest excuse in the world. Just a waste of time.

I think it’s the mismanagement of us as fans’ expectations that has really boiled my piss. Don’t tell me you have a 5 yo 10 year plan to make us part of the elite and go back on that in year four. I am now more convinced than ever that Nuno saw Jeff as the “shyster” and saw how the future was going to be and thought no thanks. Lage will deliver attacking football so at least we will be fun to watch. Whether that’s enough for fans will remain to be seen.
