It's not just about injuries or suspensions what happens if Moutinho tires and Dendoncker is bang out of form? We don't have the players to come in and challenge their places. Out of form players will continue to be picked, because we have no other options.

Shi & Co. seem so arrogant, whether it's just having Raul & Fabio as options up front last season, or just having Neves, Mout and Donk for CM this because they have flogged Otasowie and loaned MGW. I wouldn't do it on Football Manager, but our boys continually leave us so thin.

We haven't improved the first XI in 3 years (unless you count Semedo for Doherty, and considering their contributions thus far it's a fair debate)

This very much feels like the culmination of the last couple years lack of strengthening combined with gutting the front office.

I don't have much faith at the moment that if/when Neves etc leave they will be sufficiently replaced, let alone keeping them much longer and building alongside them.

I'm not too down about this season in terms of how we fare, unless we get struck by injuries again.

I'm sure Raul and the forwards will get better, we didn't lose any star players and Neto and Jonny will hopefully play some part.

But it definitely holds Bruno and our squad development back though, and pretty much kills any meaningful chance of playing progression at any kind of desirable pace.
