Tell him that it's not our fault Porto are in financial trouble and hired Mendes to sell their players. Silva's father is his agent.

Also tell him its still nowhere near the £41m that Raiola got for selling Pogba to Man Utd.

I'm guessing maybe, but Nuno hasn't sanctioned it. We may be in a better position with Mendes due to his links with Fosun, but who knows...

I always try and take facts rather than theory - there would have been ample opportunities to cash in on Neves, boly and Jiminez if Mendes was the nefarious villain he’s cast as, but they are all still here.

Personally, I think he does what’s best for his clients - either with the players ensuring they are at good clubs with good contracts, or fulfilling the requirements of the clubs he’s working with - for Porto that means selling players for good prices, for wolves, that means bringing in talent we otherwise would miss out on.

And he gets well paid for it too, good for him.

The way I see it, everyone wins in that circle.

The reason the agent fees are so high is that Porto need the money so had to sell Fabio now rather than in a couple of years when the price would have been much higher. So for agreeing to that and facilitating it the agents wanted a cut based on the likely potential fee for when Fabio had already broken through. That’s the long and short of it.

Apparently the agent fees were also for contract negotiations at Porto, which were only paid once the player was sold rather than at the time.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been speaking ahead of his side's opening game on Monday.

Over the past week, Wolves have brought in three new players and my understanding is the club will make a fresh bid for Arsenal full-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

He is an immaculate footballer. He's also a full inch shorter than Jonny and not ruggedly built.

He could be brilliant in the Prem, but I don't know if he can stand up to the defensive work required. He could always prove me wrong, of course.
