Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

Yes, as in, "not all of them". Not "all of them are not".

For the record, I think Jota is current bottom of the totem pole there, but as I say, not really a priority
Jota's best position is in a 2 not a 3.

Jota's form has been very spotty this season. Still got 16 goals though.

Just seen that Andre Ayew is, unbelievably, still at Swansea.

I'd have him in a heartbeat. Miles better player than his brother. Probably a bit old (30 now) for our current recruitment policy, though.

Fuck. Loved the shit out of him at Marseille. Absolute baller.

Been far more prolific in Europe than the league this season

That's 'padded' by a few goals in the Europa though I think. We just need to work out what makes Jota unplayable in sometimes and make it happen more often.

I think he's just inconsistent, regardless of formation. Can end up in a lot of the same positions in either formation but he seems to go through spells where he just dwells on everything and is always taking an extra touch or perhaps trying to be a bit too cute. He's at his best when he acts on impulse, takes a swing at things when he's got half an opening and perhaps that's something that comes and goes with confidence.

He's a good player but unless he gets a handle on that I don't think he'll ever be a really top player. With the options available now it's easy to replace him for a run of games where you're playing a front three, though he still seems to be top of the pecking order at the moment, but I'd like to see another centre forward to have the same flexibility if playing a front two.

Letting Jiminez have fresh legs now and then wouldn't hurt.

Ivan Perisic, 31 i know but super quality

Think Jota is easily the best of the four of them personally. Admittedly this season he’s been quite patchy but when it clicks, he is almost unplayable.

Before lockdown he had 6 in his last 5 I think? Since the restart I don’t think he’s been able to play with the sharpness he needs and it’s affected him. I don’t worry about him in the long run at all though.

Jota is great but complains too much with refs and such..we have great wide forwards in jota, neto, adama and podence..probably right at the top of the PL

6 in 2 games though wasn't it? So 10 in the other 50+ games? That 's not a great return IMO. I think Jota has been by far and away the most disappointing player this season. Would not be bothered if we moved him on.

I think he has still great potential to develop further, if he can just be a bit tougher and developing his weeknesses

If you take out all Bully's hat tricks he doesn't look that flash either :)

I think he'll always be a bit streaky, I also don't think he's ever going to be the main goalscorer at this level. I wouldn't even consider selling him though.

When he's on fire he is absolutely brilliant, but it seems to take him half a season to warm up. Not saying we should sell him, but clubs sometimes have to be brutally ruthless and he is our weakest attacking player far too often.

He was out injured for a while so missed a few games plus suspended after the sending off in Bratislava. He's played 9/10 fewer games than Coady/Rui/Raul.

16/46 is 1:3 over his season so far. He has his frustrating moments but think there's more to come from him.

He’s only got 7 PL goals and that’s a problem for a starting striker in a Top 7 team - it’s not enough.

In a side that gets (virtually) no goals from central midfield, we need more from him.

His decision making and ability to be clinical need to massively improve.

I wouldn’t be selling him but he’s been piss poor for a lot of this season.

I think he will improve in that, he has massive potential but sure, need to be more calmer in finishing situations many times..Nuno and his team will surely have noticed that and working on it

I'd say he's the most one dimensional of the four, I don't think he really excels at anything in particular. When it's working for him he's very direct and that can force defenders to commit, at times catching them unprepared or forcing them into bad decisions. When it doesn't work he just ends up running down blind alleys and bundling his way into defenders.

Traore is still working on adding new elements to his game but the sheer speed and acceleration he possesses always give him that chance of an unstoppable moment regardless of his wider performance. If he can continue to build on the other parts of his game that are beginning to come to the fore then he becomes even more dangerous knowing there's an alternative to that 5 yard dash to the line.

Neto I think is most similar to Jota, at times you get that same directness from him but he also seems a bit more fleet footed that his compatriot, he's got a few more tricks up his sleeve to unsettle defences. Still early days with him but I think he's got greater potential than Jota, certainly looks like becoming a more rounded player already.

Podence is difficult to judge so far on few appearances but he looks a completely different proposition to the others. Seems far less reliant on direct running and more nuanced in his play, drops into some good pockets of space and tries more ambitious interplay than pretty much anyone else in the side. Could see him being a preferred option in games where teams are likely to sit a lot of men behind the ball.
