Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

There is no future in selling Adama to a premier league club. Whatever his shortcomings you don’t want to have to face home. Juventus? No problem with that or similar standard in Spain. If and it is a big if, selling Adama means we do get the Raul back up Doherty and Saiss upgrades that we all seem to agree are needed then great. I think however we already know who we want and it would surprise me if they are household names here!

If we have to face Adama I’m sure we’ll cope a lot better than most other teams.

Didn’t we have 2 sent off last time we faced him?

On 56 mins and 70 mins and they still didn't score til 90 mins!

If the old memory serves, both of the first yellows were for fouls on Adama (or was Neves' for dissent?) but Neves second yellow was for fouling Friend and Doc's was for jumping into an opponent.

Matt Doherty has more goals than Adama Traore this season.

If someone offers £60+ I would suggest we’ll seriously consider that.

HOWEVER, the fact Doc has more goals than Adama this season shows that there’s still loads of room for improvement and he’s already a scary talent. So if I were in charge, unless it’s an obscene offer, I wouldn’t sell him... yet.

Adama has loads more assists though.

We have put a £135m price tag on him. We are discouraging all offers with that.

Random rumour on twitter linking us with Vertonghen now he's on a free. Silly season is officially in full swing.

General rule of thumb...and I'm wondering if people would agree with me here...we won't catch the teams we're competing with by signing players they no longer want. There will always be exceptions, of course - might be a player who fits better into our system than theirs, or a young talent who maybe hasn't fulfilled their potential...but aging players who they don't want to re-sign are generally going to be a no-go for us, I would think.

Absolutely bang on

I don't know if that's true. Two of our most impactful signings of the past few years were a benchwarmer for Benfica and someone who was squandering his talent at Middlesbrough. There will always be good players who are under-valued or misused by their clubs.

Vertonghen is definitely not the answer to anything though, legs have gone.

Probably at the stage of his career where MLS or a return to Belgium would be best for him.

Juve are signing Arkadiusz Milik so that puts the Jiménez rumours to bed.

Ryan Bennett didn’t work out too badly. Soon overtook his former team. Judge the player and what he can do for us, not what he can do for his present club.

Judged...

Vertonghen will be asking for big wages now he's on a free. Plus as DW says he's too old for the position we'd use him in.

Vertonghen is about the opposite of the kind of signings we make.

More of an Everton/West Ham “one last payday” type signing.

Wow didn't realise he was 33 tbh!

Rewatching the highlights Doherty and Benno sandwiched Adama but Doherty could've easily got done for dissent him and Neves were going mental at Attwell after ignoring the Costa DOGSO. Then as you say, it was Friend for Docs second too.
