Dire Wolf was obviously taking issue with the assertion that Arsenal weren't better than us by the end of the season, or more specifically, that they are still two signings behind us

Their form over the last 5 games of the season was the same as ours and that included us conceding late goals to lose at Sheffield United and draw with Burnley. Post lockdown they got an identical points haul but played one game more than we did.

There is an argument to suggest that despite them beating us on the day, they weren't better than us at the end of the season.

We would have finished above Spurs if it weren't for Covid. They were without Kane and Son - their 2 game changers and they looked poor. The break due to Covid meant they had their best 2 players back and with them i'd say they are ahead of us. Which is to be expected when they have players on more than double our highest earners.

If we finish above spurs and Arsenal this coming season we will have had a brilliant year and massive overperformed. I will be surprised if Arsenal aren’t challenging for the title and Spurs winning a cup . Both will finish above us I feel and Arsenal by 5 to 10 points minimum. That’s not being negative. The big six have pulled further clear it seems and only Leicester seem intent on keeping with them at the moment. We will do really well to be eighth come the end of the season.

I don't think that Youngwolf suggested that Spurs needed to catch up with us. He mentioned that they were lucky that the lockdown break meant that they got players back from injury and without that, they wouldn't have finished above us. Arsenal are on a par with us in my opinion. Not much between the three teams to be honest.

Without wanting to be accused of ignoring your point....if Arsenal are challenging for the title I will be amazed. Top 4, possible but they are still miles behind Man City & Liverpool and potentially still behind Chelsea.

Spurs will win a Cup and I would back Jose to get them the Europa.

You're right, it's great how close we came last season, and great to finish above Arsenal. As Deano said, I think Covid did for us with Spurs.

We're not a million miles away, but I think we may have lost ground, though where I do agree with Young wolf is that there are still variables, mainly transfers between now and the season start
