Wolves have completed the signing of Tote Gomes from Estoril.

The 21 year old defender has signed a 5 year deal with the club and will spend the first season on loan at Grasshoppers. (via Record)

We're also apparently after/getting Faouzi Ghoulam. Any good?

Villa have all but tied up a deal for Matty Cash

And we don't have to be brilliant to finish above them or Spurs, neither are fantastic sides.

Maybe I didn't explain well enough, or you are taking my point a bit too literally. My initial point in response to TT was that we were a better team than both last season (IMO). That is where Arsenal for example had catching up to do for this season, to bridge the gap to the level we were at last season.

As it stands, literally now on 2nd September, sure we have some bigwork to do with Jonny injured and Doc sold, I think we are probably on about par with both those teams in terms of ability. You may think we have slipped behind, fair enough at the moment especally as our squad is looking very thin right now. Both Arsenal and Spurs have glaring weaknesses still to sort out personnel and in broader terms of how they are coached.

Come on, we weren't better than Arsenal by the end of the season. Did you not watch the game against them when they won 2-0 without breaking a sweat and we were quite lucky to get nil? By season's end I'd have put money on them to have beaten us 4 times out of 5. They clearly improved and we didn't.

we were quite lucky to get nil? .

Apart from the chance Adama missed after 30 seconds and the even better chance when it was still 1-0. We weren't great that day at all but we had a couple of great chances in that game. Not saying we deserved anything or we were better than Arsenal but just the lucky to get nil bit is a bit off

We were comfortably beaten. Let’s not rewrite history.

Don't agree with that at all, pretty even game in my memory, nothing in it till Aubamyang scored, admittedly we didn't look much like equalizing but to say they were much better than us is just off the mark imo.
They certainly improved under Arteta and will probably pushing for Europa League again next season

Where in his comment is he re-writing history? Admitted we didn't deserve anything and was correct in pointing out that we had a couple of decent chances. Jota made an opportunity for himself and fluffed it too. On the day we were second best.

Sorry for having a different view, but we were 2nd best by a long distance that day. They were much better and it wasn't close. Same as Chelsea were much better on the last day. There was a chasm between us that wasn't there for much of the season but on the days when it counted they both looked like the established top 6 teams that they are and we looked like upstarts that they swatted back down with ease.

Lets re-read my post and see where I rewrite history

We were as good as Arsenal? - "We weren't great that day" "not saying we deserved anything or we were better than Arsenal"

My point - " the lucky to get nil bit is a bit off" and used 2 glorious chances to score to cover my opinion (1 to take the lead and 1 to level the match)

So yep, by claiming Adama had 2 great chances I am rewriting history and we hammered Arsenal that day and I have no clue how they won it. A fookin mystery

If Cyber isolated a single line from a broader point and ignored the broader point he'd be getting crucified now. Probably by the same people doing it themselves!

Dire Wolf was obviously taking issue with the assertion that Arsenal weren't better than us by the end of the season, or more specifically, that they are still two signings behind us

Arsenal weren't miles better on the day, they took their goals well and managed the game well from 1-0 up (we don't go 1-0 down that often, not since Boly came back anyway). But they didn't boss us.

Similarly don't think Chelsea even had a shot on target until their cheat free kick.

We weren't great on either day (nor were we vs Sevilla) but it's disingenuous to claim we got schooled or looked out of our depth in any of those games, we didn't.

I wasn't ignoring the broader point. I can't add anything to it because Arsenal at Molineux were the better team and since then have 1.5 trophies (the Shield is only worth .5) and seem, from the oustide to be sorting their shit out under Arteta. The bit about being lucky to get nil stood out because of that, so I talked about that.
