Conor Coady offers as much protection to the back four as salad cream does against sunburn.

Why would anyone ever play him as a defensive midfielder? He can't do it. Very, very, very occasionally he'll press the ball fairly well high up the pitch when he plays in midfield and even carries the ball reasonably well once in a blue moon (shame he can't pass or shoot). He never has had and never will have any of the attributes required to play in front of the back four, that includes tackling.
