Summer 2017 Window Thread

I do think Fosun would be opposed to that level of disruption of a team that has just been put together, if they could. For good reason.

Jota and Boly are only loans - so gone if we don't go up.
Ivan and Costa will want to move to the Prem or other top Division after 2 seasons in the Championship
Neves will have a queue of clubs trying to get him

Regardless of what Fosun want, they simply won't be able to force/convince players that another season at this level is what they need.

Just extrapolate from the last season we do know about, (2015-6). Add in significant spending on transfer fees, (even if amortised in accounting terms), wages and loans
and you get to something in the region of the estimates I used. As I said, the figures are just a way of illustrating the process.

I can't see how you've arrived at those figures at all.

I wonder if this Q&A showdown between them will ever take place? Would love to see that.

Realistically the ball is not in my court.

I don't know why he's liking a tweet that's quite obviously pointed in his (and others') direction but I don't really have time for silly games.

Part of me thinks that he knows half the shit he writes to meet deadlines is bollocks.

I don't envy him.

I don't want to keep getting bogged down in this but if they need to fill space then there is no shortage of material. You don't need to make shit up or have an agenda.

But then he gets way more hits on what he writes than I do on my stuff, so what do I know.

Don't mean to be arguing with you, Dan. Just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, I suppose.

What can I say, I like to think people aren't that thick.

I imagine if he didn't have the readership of the E&S on his side he would have less hits than a hermits twitter account.

It's the Katie Hopkins Principle.

Say stuff that will get a re action, who cares what the reaction is, it's all about the clicks.

It's pitiful when as has been pointed out, he could fill his time with proper journalism. But where would he find the time? What will all the having to read everyone's twitter, having to read all the message boards, having to c &p what they say?

Modern Journalism is a minefield for bright young social media savvy men like Tim who have their finger on the pulse and see Nathan Barley as a role model.

My parents have had the E&S delivered for going on 40 years and believe everything written on the back page by Tim to be gospel.

They wouldn't have a fucking clue if they logged onto Twitter and saw him describing the football as filthy.

No argument on my part my friend. It's just I've had a go at his brand of journalism quite a bit this summer and it makes me look a bit bitter if I keep doing that, so I'm trying not to go over the same ground over and over. I'm not bitter incidentally, it's not the way I would ever choose to write but if he thinks it works for him then fine. I'll carry on doing what I'm doing.

Mind you I don't think he wants to defend it properly so that's why this Q&A almost certainly won't happen.

My wife has the Express & Star delivered, has had since we got married 40 years ago - I hardly ever read it apart from the sports section, which I've never been that convinced about, it has to be said. Having now spent some time on these excellent forums, I discover far more about my team and have it presented (especially in Deutsch's case) in a far more knowledgeable way. It has really opened my eyes to reading Tim, sorry, Britney, and now I can't even read his pieces any more. Why would I? I've probably read it on here first and had the proper version of events to boot.

You need to remember back to when Tim I was the correspondent and Tim II used to write supporters blogs after each match just as John Lalley has for years. Back then his stuff was eminently readable and seemed very balanced (especially when contrasted with the anti-club stance that Tim of the Nash was pursuing at that time).

It all suggests a bad case of over-promotion sadly.

By all accounts Mark Reagan has been very anti Wolves on the WM phone in tonight wouldn't know what he's saying as I'm out the area even if I was I wouldn't listen to that clown.

Same bloke who predicted Villa to get 100 points last season.

WM phone-ins are for the type of people who instantly froth at the mouth because Paul Franks et al are purely there to wind listeners up.

Rego is like it every night, his bickering with Franksy really annoys me. Whenever anyone dares to be positive about Wolves Rego stamps his feet saying they should wrap up the Championship now and give us the title
