Summer 2016 Window Thread

According to HITC we are after Nugent as well as Forshaw from Boro.

I do hope we sign some British players with Championship experience. Always like Forshaw and although Nugent's best days are behind him he may have the know how we need

Nugent is still more than capable at this level, would definitely take him. He's basically what Mason is supposed to be.

I still think Mason has a lot to give us, Jackett never gave him a proper chance

Mason has shown up well, I thought.

Press conference to introduce Zenga at 2.30pm today then. Question is, will we announce any more signings today?

I hope Walter Zenga explains who drives our transfer policy and his role in the process.

Presumably any signings today won't be announced until late this evening...

I doubt he will mention anything to do with that. Fully expect it to be something along the lines of "fantastic opportunity, couldn't turn it down when I heard of their interest, key aim is to get the club back in the Premier League as soon as possible, fantastic facilities/history, already know a bit about the players here" etc etc. Just the standard stuff.

I get the feeling we are going to follow the continental model - players get bought beacuse they are good players and then its the coach's role to make them work together. Who and how the players are chosen seems a bit of a mystery at the moment though

Cynic

I expect the backroom team to be announced. I hope there is a place for Rob Edwards ( a link to the old and new) and that the U21's & accademy staff are safe...they've been doing an excellent job with the young players.

I wonder if we'll see a big increase in the number of coaches, too.

Always felt Wolves had a small coaching team for the size of the club.

Agree with this.Would love to see a bigger backroom team if it can benefit current and future players.Specialist coaches for each area of the team...

From Alan Nixon on Twitter:

Wolves. Going to look at young keeper Ruddy at Bury.

Will be for the youth team, he's only made one appearance for Bury. Spent his teen years at Real Murcia, interestingly.

presumably we offered over the odds because if we only match a Premier League club's offer we'd have no chance of getting him.

as it is, based only on reading twitter comments, it sounds like he'd rather wait out for a Premier League or equivalent club so has asked us for ridiculous wages.

Surely that sort of thinking only comes into play on wages?

In Benfica would accept say £10m from a PL club why would they want any extra from a lower club?

Agreed, I would expect us having to bid double the value.
