Summer 2016 Window Thread

I think we'll see a new centre half.

Williamson is clearly miles off and as it stands we're one injury away from EEL having to come back into the fold.

We'll see, I hope you're right. Maybe they're happy with the squad + Talisca.

Jeff Shi said between 5 and 8. With Silvio injured I would say it's a minimum of 6 which would suggest Talisca + 1 more. I would think it's going to be one more than (3 in total) that but any club has to be happy with between 7 and 9 new additions to start the season and we're already on 5. Plenty of work to do but it's not a bad start.

All I want is a Left Back as we have had 1 specialist left back in the last 10 years and he was bang average.

Also not your regular owner structure, it's an investment company?

I don't see them splashing the cash to use a well known phrase.

We're of no value to them while we're in this league so they will spend the money.

If we *only* had £20m to spend then we wouldn't be punting it all on one player.

You're forgetting we're a part of the 'happiness' department of the company. :) They could be happy just owning us!

That makes perfect sense to me, time will tell though.

Oh I agree with you, I just don't think it'll happen this window.

That's what I expect them to spend over two years, if we spend 15-20 mill on Talisca...not much left.

'Money isn't a problem' says Jeff Shi

We've already got 5 in counting Lonergan.

Lonergan was here before Fosun

We don't really know if ASAP means one or two or three years, going up this season is unlikely.

Unlikely but not impossible if we get the right players, read my sig for what Jeff Shi said.

We can but wait and see what happens.

The £20 - £30m spend quote came from Morgan anyway - Fosun have never said what they are prepared to invest, suspect its what is needed to get us up & keep us there as thats where the investment value comes from

Why? What makes you doubt the new owners?
I'm not doubting them, I just have a feeling they're the thorough type who don't want to rush things before they feel confident in an 'alien' environment. That's why I think the first season will be about learning and the 2nd season about promotion, at least I think that's what they're initially thinking. :)

This made sense in my brain!

I agree with you - there's a reason we're getting season-long loans and single-year contracts so far (with the exception of Bodvarsson). We need bodies now, so Fosun just got in who it could using Mendes' connections; I expect to see even more players coming in in January and then next summer, on longer contracts, with their confidence in what needs to be done increased.

I'd be surprised if another keeper came in. There are other positions first and contrary to the forum belief, he's perfectly adequate for this level.

He can be perfectly adequate. He wasn't last season, no keeper is when they give away that many goals that are directly their fault.

I'd like us to go back in for Emi personally. We can afford him now and he's not getting close to the Arsenal first team with Cech and Ospina ahead of him.

But FOSUN owns 30% of Gestifute and have a relationship with Benfica, they are making the money on the other end, only reason we are overpaying by so much when the money could be better spent elsewhere.

Good call that. I thought he was a much better keeper but the main reasons for not buying him, being the ownership situation and Jackett not fancying him, are now gone. I would hope that Pat Mountain could offer some pointers to Zenga and his team should they be looking to upgrade the keeper

I think you are worrying far too much. Conspiracy theories up there with the man on the grassy knoll.

I reckon we'll sign at least 3 more players. And some of those will be signed with no prior rumours, similar to when Bod signed.

No need to panic here. Fosun have got a lot of money, they've only just arrived here, they'll want to improve considerably, there's loads of work to do.

This isn't like last season when we had to work to a much stricter budget.
