REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Thanks. I'm still none the wiser though. How is the EU signing trade deals with other countries in some way punishing us? a) We're still part of the EU and so benefit from the deals for the length of time we remain so. B) The implication is that they should be signing similar deals with us - how can they do that when we're still a member and in no position to sign any such deal?

Or have I misunderstood your point?

I thought the deal was for when we leave not whilst we are still a member?

The best deal for the UK (And the EU) would be something similar to CETA.

Why would we automatically get the same deal as say, Japan have with the EU?

Our economy is nothing like theirs.

Well, I assume the last god knows how long of negotiations (Or non negotiations) would suggest it wouldn't be automatic.

Correct, it will take years (if you have good negotiators, which we don't). Cyber seems to think that the EU handed Japan a deal and then should go "oh by the way T-Bag, as you're leaving, you can have that deal too if you like".

Near on 50 years of integration. Even if you had the best people in the world, you could not unpick it in two years and arrive at a sensible, even temporary solution. We have terrible people so it was always a literal impossibility. If only this had been pointed out before.

So to sum up PMQ's today.

She's going to reach across the house to all who may be persuaded to back her current deal and also speak to the DUP.

She still intends to leave on 29th March.

She's still saying that in order to avoid no deal then her deal will have to be agreed.

She's still saying that the original referendum result must be adhered to.

We are almost back to the position of yesterday morning as if nothing has changed.

No Cyber would not expect that as he is a realist but he is asking for the EU to be more realistic in their negotiations going forward than they have been and has been asking that since 23rd June 2016, instead of the Non Nein response

The EU monkey in my mind looks something akin to this.

Who's her boss? Can they not just sack her?

The Queen and technically yes.

Cyber, explain what you mean by "realistic", other than "giving us a load of stuff for no reason".

Not for 11 months if you mean her party

If you are asking maj to go down the removal by a sovereign route, then that is somewhat unlikely. Sort of likely to start a civil war and all that.

Leadsom - "we are not moving from 29 march"
Hammond (to the CBI) - "we can delay article 50 from 29 march"
Grayling the fuckwit - "the cabinet are united"

facepalm....

Grieve tables 2nd referendum bill for Monday.

Mans becoming a fucking hero. Loved his comment yesterday:
Entertaining as it was … it filled me with a slight sense of gloom to see that the government had got to such a pass that it had to rely on the skills of a criminal defence advocate to get it out of its difficulties.

Let's be honest, T-Bag has as much chance of losing the vote of no confidence as Burton have of getting to the League Cup final.

I think he might have jumped the gun there. It could take a little longer before there's a majority for that. OTOH, it might just focus minds and speed things up. Even if it passes, we'll probably have another two years debating the format of it. Interesting times, if you like train crashes. I prefer mine to music:

I was under the impression that the Withdrawal Agreement was just for the terms of our exit and then a trade deal was to be struck thereafter. Until the WA agreement is passed or whatever else gets agreed, I'm not sure it's possible to talk trade deals of any sort because no-one has any idea what the UK's status is vis-a-vis the EU.

Hmmmm

whispers abound in parliament that she will back down and offer customs union as soon as confidence is passed. That would blow the Conservative Party apart.
