So............... during Mays negotiations were the UK offered deals on the same terms as are being offered to non eu members currently?

(clue the answer is no and I think thats his point, as regards the EU being punitive. They were. )

I believe the EU did offer us terms which could be argued are comparable or better to other deals but we declined as they did not meet the red lines.

anyone remember the good old days when we just said it was gonna be a mess?

Superb speech from Tom Watson - if only Corbz could take some lessons from him.

It was. And as much as I despise him, Gove's was an excellent closing speech, too.

Surely after Monday's announcement of plan Av2, corbs has got to formally throw his weight behind a second referendum?

sorry

Didnt know that

ffs.

tbf, I doubt it would have got through Parliament either...I don't think it was ever a formal offer, but it was where the EU were at before May set out her red lines and it included a customs union and single market. This evening, the EU are hinting this is still on the table but I think if May puts this before Parliament at the moment she can only get it with the support of the opposition and her own back benchers and the DUP would be looking at ways to bring the government down.

I understand why Corbyn is getting flak for seeking an election over a second vote but I just don't see how this parliament can move forward. If there was a second vote that included remain it would have to be a binding vote - there isn't enough support for that. If it was a second vote without remain, still not enough numbers. I'm not even sure there is enough for the Canada/Norway options. This parliament is in paralysis and (unless things changed) we will leave without a deal...or just never quite leave.

Reports are that Corbyn has refused to meet with Cruella this evening.
Two things are wrong with that. One is that it would have seriously pissed off the ERG and other Conservative brexiters. The second is that he could have claimed the moral high ground in saying that she was refusing to rule out what would be the most catastrophic route for the nation to take. As it is now she will claim that she has tried to reach out butto the leader of the opposition but he won't consider it. He'll be painted as the bad guy.

He is just not at all savvy

Statement from May at ten.

"Those nasty people from the opposition are not interested in carrying out the will of the people. I've tried to engage with them but they dont want to know and have tried to get all sorts of things promised from me before we have even spoken. Its a good job my friends in the DUP dont engage in such tactics and are working with me to do what best for the our great nation and union . I'm now off to Brussels to try and get the backstop taken off the table"

He told her to take no deal off the table. She said no. I think he is fair enough to tell her to get fucked.

I note the Plaid Leader has only agreed to meet her to say "take no deal off the table or get fucked". As has Vince Cable. Not sure there is a lot of difference.

I think your right Paddy but we are engaged in the subject. Folk will see the news tonight/right wing rags tomorrow see that Corbyn won't meet May and it will go straight into their heads that he isn't trying to deal with her.

Pissing off the right wing of her Party would have caused huge problems for her. I note that she wasn't asking to speak to him before the vote as she knew that they would be furious with her.

Refusing to meet plays terribly. Even if he met and told her straight at least he can say he'd tried to meet, appeal to her, do the right thing. Now he just looks like a cunt. Which he is. And she is. But ffs is to look a bigger cunt than her is a special effort

Plaid leader in Westminster (Saville-Roberts) or the new party leader, Adam Price?
