Well I've literally always held firm that the main issue has been the lack of a pre-season. Injuries a big issue yes, Nuno not being able to see his family also always seemed a pretty reasonable issue to me too. I don't think any other consideration was placed firmly on the back burner at all.

This was always my view - the lack of pre-season totally screwed us, particularly when trying to implement a new system. Nuno's demeanour was self-evident. He hated the absence of fans and was clearly depressed AF. This was by no means the reason I felt we were struggling - for me it was the lack of pre-season and Jimenez's injury. Everything else was additional.

Only a few little considerations... like everything he was responsible for as manager!

His contribution to a wholly inappropriate summer transfer window, misguided playing style change at the worst possible time, indequate Raul backup, persisting with out of form and even injured players, getting us to only play for half a game, confusing himself and his players so much that eventually we didn't even have one formation and way of playing that actually functioned properly. And boring us all to death for most of the season, too.

As an example of this blind spot, you and Banjo above all mention extenuating factors that were really beyond his control. There's no mention of elements he had direct control over.

It all feeds into this nonsense myth that everything just happened to poor, passive Nuno, that all good things at Wolves are down to him and bad things are someone else's problem or just acts of God...

For me, it's the same way Fabio Silva sceptics last season would be at their best.

You can be unsure or even unhappy about the signing/appointment, but it isn't the player/manager's fault, it doesn't benefit the club for them to fail, so a bit of 'benefit of the doubt' for a while and cross your fingers...

(Doesn't mean you can't call out a poor game/decision)

As long as it's all through the veil of reality and your not purposefully being antagonistic then I'd guess it's fine

(It's not like you need validation anyway).

What will grind my gears is if we lose to teams who are better than us and people start being silly about how crap Lage is. Likewise, if we beat Man City we should accept that for the freak result it is.

But people were plenty critical of decisions he was making, and especially for the style of play.

My view is that the pre-season really hampered that anyway. I don't think people quite understand how crazy it is that we had effectively no break, whereas everyone else did except Chelsea, United and City, who had massive squads. Now, we can have the squad size debate for sure but no way Nuno anticipated a pandemic which would come and ruin that idea (a lot of his ideas around squad size make a lot of sense if I am honest, in normal conditions). The ability to sustain an intensity with so little in the tank is difficult.

From a coaching point of view, they have my sympathy because it's such a challenging circumstance and they had a massive disadvantage. In many ways they couldn't overcome that but they did stop us having a relegation battle (which some people genuinely thought we were in for a bit, even though we never ever were).

There were plenty of times I disagreed with the way Nuno approached situations (for example, bringing Hoever on against Everton at home), and I was also heavily critical of how we defended set pieces which is something you can't really blame on fatigue or injuries, that could have been worth another six points to us last season. So to say I never mentioned things he had control of is total bullshit

He starts at 0 (rather than positive or negative) for me as I have no idea who he is.

Whether he's a good appointment or not is something that will reveal itself over time.
