Nuno to leave Wolves

Bound to be a lot of emotion as this is the first time I've not met anyone that has said they've wanted the manager out. Best period football I've ever seen at Wolves.

I find the timing surprising. There were moments when I thought it could happen, we turned that around so I was genuinely just looking forward to preparing for next season.

If it was Fosun as it appears to be, then really not happy at all. Yes the season was average and many performances have been just that, however I did expect him to get next season to get us back on track.

As people have already said the next appointment needs to be spot on and I'm not convinced it will be.

Nuno wasn't holding Rafa Mir back, Rafa Mir was because of his limited ability.

We'll cash in on a freak season and he'll have a nothing career.

We're not going to upgrade on Nuno. We can't.

A shit decision that will inevitably take us backwards, potentially a very long way.
The first sentence is absolutely wrong, we can. We MIGHT not, but we definitely can.

The second is guesswork and chicken little of the highest order, worse than anything Jinky posts in a match day thread.

Well, if I decide to run across the M54 later, I might not get killed.

I would suggest though on the basis of all evidence, I probably would, so I won't be doing that.

There isn't anything to suggest this is a good idea.

Unless it works. Then it's a good idea.

In reality whoever the new manager is is coming in with zero expectation and fans thinking relegation is a serious possibility.

So really finishing 17th or above is a win. It wouldn't have been a win with Nuno.

Ok, but what are the chances of that? Based on who looks likely to come in? Would you have said 48 hours ago "I would replace Nuno with Sergio Conceicao", because I wouldn't.

I split my fingernail a few weeks ago. Hurt like fuck, let me tell you. What I didn't do was chop my hand off and hoped I grew another one.

I remember a few of us thinking sacking Lambert and getting Nuno was a bad idea.

In reality I know naff all about anybody we have been linked with and would give them as much of a chance as I would anybody.

Like I said, this feels like a decision made with reasoning and careful consideration. It isn't sacking MM after a 5-1 loss.

if you never dare to change, you will never know what is on the other side, or develop either

Most Wolves fans thought getting rid of Brian Little and replacing him with Graham Turner was a bad move...

As I posted yesterday, every single other Wolves manager I've seen (I don't remember Little, I was 5) needed to go earlier if anything, none of them really had a case to stay.

I reckon if you'd polled this forum on Wednesday about whether Nuno should stay, at least 8/10 would have had him staying. Maybe 9/10.

So there's no need to convince yourself that it's a good call. I certainly don't think it is.

It's a bullshit phrase but an old manager of mine said "The best thing you can do is make the right decision, the second best is the wrong decision, and the worst thing is no decision".

I don't think anyone really wanted Nuno gone now, but there would have been plenty if we'd started next season poorly. Whilst it does feel too early, i guess Fosun didn't see things improving next season and decided to make a change now, rather than waiting a few months into next season. Maybe it's been done now because they have someone in mind who might not be available a few months into the season.

I get you. But I also think if we started the next season similarly to how we played this season then there would have been a majority saying it was time for Nuno to go. And as Jeff has worked very closely with Nuno for 4 years now, maybe, just maybe he felt Nuno didn't have it in him to right the ship. To me, you're projecting your own emotions about Nuno too strongly into the situation and Jeff has taken what ultimately to him is a considered business decision, not an emotional one. If he made choices about the club based on emotions we'd be a fucking disaster zone.

I don't think we'd have got worse, and we're going to finish 12th-14th.

Some people forget too easily what we've been for the last 40 years or more.

Nobody is forgetting that, fans know where we have been. And so do Fosun, so does Jeff Shi. Do you think he wants to be the man responsible for taking us back there? His sights are and always have been much higher than that. If this backfires, and you're right it is possible, then he is not going to be in charge of Wolves for very much longer. It's not a whim, it's a calculated risk IMO. Where the risk is high but the potential rewards much higher.

It's going all in when you've got a pair of threes. I mean you might win. A lot of history is against you though.

I don't think Jeff Shi knows anything about football to be honest.

I agree, i don't have the blind faith many do in Shi either, he's been in football for what? 4 years? He's also got rid of a lot of the people around him who are experienced too.

It's a huge gamble, however, the fact they are taking this gamble makes me think they have something huge lined up, whether in terms of the manager or in terms of the budget for the summer.
