Nuno to leave Wolves

Don’t expect a big transfer window this summer apparently one of the reasons Nuno and Fosun relationship broke down.
This will certainly effect which manager we’re able to attract.
Getting rid of Nuno to replace him with someone like Lage is taking backward steps.
Based on?

Athletic article is up

Seems this has been on the cards for a while

-edit- if the staff wanted to stay getting rid of them seems a mistake.

It sounds like reality has started to set in a bit for Fosun in terms of what kind of investment it would take to get us where they want (let's be honest, they want top 4, not top 6)

Is anyone able to share The Athletic article? I haven't got access.

I'd be happy to but I thought posting paywalled content had become a bit of a no-no? Might've misunderstood

It seems there was some disharmony and key people wanting to go in different directions. In the cold light of day this does seem like the right decision

Spiers is such a hateful cunt.

Managing to stick the boot in and not saying anything that you can’t find on the internet, pure conjecture or has been printed by better journalists.

The particularly laughable part about Scott Sellars and the newly installed Matt Jackson as a possible new direction belongs in the Daily Heil along with the thinly veiled dig at foreign coaches, Portuguese in general and Jorge Mendes.

I hate that curly haired thundercunt.

I've read the top snippet and it does seem like conjecture - some players saw it coming? Doubt it.

That’s unsubstantiated horseshit from Spiers.

I think they still do the £1 a month subscription offer for the first 12 months, if it helps?

Again happy to post so long as it doesn't land me in hot water

Tbf, incidentally, Spiers isn't the only one credited. So it's possible some elements are legitimately sourced/substantiated - won't know from just reading though.

Also if there was such disharmony, why didn't he report it at the time?

The only bit I buy is that this was talked about in January/February. No way the players knew.

I haven't read the article but apparently it says Nuno didn't want Dani Olmo and preferred Campana over Hwang Her Chan.

Precis from MM :

- Club considered sacking him after Albion defeat

- Players questioned his methods from October onwards

- Fosun and Nuno started looking elsewhere from October onwards

-Thelwell leaving had a big effect

- Recruitment was an issue with Nuno having final say on transfers

- While Nuno has been incredibly popular with his playing staff, his departure won’t be a devastating blow to some at the club who have grown weary of his moody and occasionally terse demeanour. He could be snappy and abrupt

- Parting instigated by Wolves and agreed before Everton game

- The backroom team wanted to stay at Wolves but will depart

- Nuno doesn't have another job lined up

- Fosun still aiming to make Wolves a permanent too six side but will now look at this more long-term

- Leicester are where Wolves want to be but their owners have been there 11 years, they’ve won the league and had Champions League football which took them to another level. It won’t be easy.

- Nuno leaving does feel like the natural end of a cycle, as it might for a few of the players who’ve been there with him for four years.

If you're there working in that environment every day surely it stands a chance you've got better insight into how things are going, relationships developing etc. than a bunch of outsiders looking in from afar?

Seems entirely plausible that some players may have had an inkling something was afoot.

Is that Mick McCarthy's view? ;)

Anyway, same stuff as is being written on here by people who don't really know
