Next Manager chat.

Lambert has apparently said on SSN that he wants the job.

If we got Norwich Lambert - thank you very much. But Villa/Blackburn Lambert? God no.

Still don't believe they'd be so foolish as to ONLY look at British coaches.

Guesswork IMO. We're in a position where compensation is an irrelevancy if we wanted a manager currently employed.[/QUOTE

If we win well at Blackburn tomorrow, Rob Edwards will come massively into the frame. That would be a good thing, in my opinion.

According to Spiers, Thelwell will be making the decision on our new manager and we have not looked at anyone currently employed. Whether we can easily afford it is irrelevant if the bloke making the decision has already ruled out that approach or it's slipped his mind.

I'm not at all comfortable with the way the club has seemingly once again changed tack 180° .

They (or rather Thelwell) would be, you watch.
I don't think he would. With the Fosun resources, we're able to widen the net. I highly doubt they'd waste the opportunity, even if Thelwell seems to be one of the fall guys when we haven't won for 3 matches.

This is a very important appointment and I'd like to think they'll adopt a sensible, rational approach before making a decision.

I thought we had someone lined up already when Zenga was sacked TBH.

Why the fuck is Thelwell picking the manager?
It's his job.

He will do what was done when KJ was hired. Speak to the ones available, sort through the shit that applies etc. He will probably get it down to 3 and then Jeff Shi & Fosun will step in.

The ones mentioned such as Lambert, Pearson, Ince (shudders) will no doubt want their names linked with the job as they're out of work and want to get back in work. Not too tricky to get their names out there.

Somewhat different if they're already employed.

The club have said nothing and rightly so - back to guesswork and heresay until something is announced. And a few 'booooo - Thelwell/Mendes out's and 'I won't ever go again if x/y/z' is appointed' type levels of hysteria as and when new rumours emerge.

This is turning into a pile of shit by the sounds of it..

Except it hasn't, has it? It's been 3 days and the level of panicking is already rivalling the pre-takeover pant wetting.

Mine will remain dry until we appoint someone, which I would now imagine won't be until after the break. Then I shall happily jump on the moist underwear bandwagon assuming it's either a very good appointment or a very bad appointment.

I'm starting to feel pleased that I'll have no wifi at home later.

Yep, and for the first 2 seasons, Thelwells last recommendation did pretty well.

Personally, I'm hopeful Rob Edwards wins the next 2 games without us conceding. Remove the need for immediate action as there will be the international break, plus Edwards will have bought the board time. An appointment by 1 December should give enough time for a newbie to assess the squad. We only have 3 fixtures in November. We have 7 in December.

My instinct is we want someone who will fit into the current setup, working with Edwards & Sellars. So they're unlikely to bring a huge backroom staff with them.

I really don't get the rush tbh. Proper diligence takes time and reflection.

I really don't care if we haven't appointed by after the International break. Whilst Fosun may be new to football, they are serious businessmen. They know how to make effective decisions.

"(Karl Robinson) was appointed manager of League One team Milton Keynes Dons on 10 May 2010, having previously been the club's assistant manager under previous boss Paul Ince." (from Wikipedia).

Both now available. New Manager and Assistant???

I mention it as I haven't seen Karl mentioned here. Not a partnership I would have faith in, and I must admit I don't believe Thelwell is the "kingmaker"... but then again, who else is there?

But we want a new manager now. In fact, now is too late. It needs to be 4 days ago. Despite the fact we had a manager then. Not fast enough.

I think the takeover flapping has made me far less tolerant of the impatience from some fans that seems to get worse and worse as time goes on.

Guess im just underwelmed at almost all names mentioned.. We will see what happens though

If its Thelwell's job to pick the new manager why wasn't it his job to pick the last one?

I've still got a feeling that Mendes will have a say in the appointment.

Good post

Fosun acted quickly when they felt they needed & from whats being said it wasn't just the run of poor results that made them feel that (though they do give justification without washing the club's dirty linen in public & won't have helped Walter's case)

Underwhelmed with the names in the public arena at present though its what we must expect in this age of mass social media & instant opinion that can be foisted on everyone instantly. Hopefully they resist the urge to make a kneejerk decision & do explore all avenues - whether the person is in or out of current employment.

As someone said earlier the cost of this won't be a major factor in their decision.

Exactly: Zenga certainly wasn't Thelwell's choice. My other problem with Thelwell is just doesn't seem that bright
