Millwall 2 - 2 Wolves: The Verdict Thread

My only mistake here was to share an opinion in the first place, I won't do that again.

As for saying im part of the problem, that shows just how ignorant you are.

Just because it's your opinion it doesn't make you right, if you are sharing an opinion be prepared to have people disagree with you.

Why not take on board what people are saying and question why you think the way you do?

I'm sure this type of opinion won't be missed. But yes, I think people who are content to turn a blind eye while blaming the recipient are part of the problem. There's nothing ignorant about that. Maybe you should toughen up if you struggle with having your opinion challenged.

It's fine to disagree and to challenge an argument but labelling people "part of the problem" after a single exchange without digging deeper is just being a dick.

I will change my views on anything when I understand something better. I understand the fried chicken story quite well and I don't think it has any basis over this side of the pond. I can clearly see others disagree with that so what can I say?

I won't reply to this anymore phone hasn't stopped buzzing all morning.

If there is a sensible debate to be had then it needs to be done in a different thread.

There's a sensible debate going on right here. If you are offended by being labelled "part of the problem" you have the right of reply, the right to explain why I am wrong. Instead you have called me ignorant and a dick - hardly illuminating the debate with intelligent comment.

Being called part of the problem is VERY strong language. Equally, however, asserting that statements with severe racial overtones are not racist is also VERY strong language.

I would be curious how Alfred or Bright would react to being told they need to toughen up about the chicken stereotype.

It isn’t very strong language at all. I wasn’t calling him racist but there is a problem with racism and downplaying it is part of the problem. I haven’t said anything fundamentally different to any other poster who has disagreed with Siggy. I would have made the same observation about anyone who sought to make a similar point.

I said it was strong language, not that I thought you were wrong.

Dear me, how am I dictating anything here? I am merely saying that IMO (its mine you don't have to agree) there are times when a club should jump in and take action, Monkey noises - yes, chants that claim someone is a terrorist - yes .... tedious links to food based stereotypes for black people living in the south of the US - no.

Is it distasteful in my opinion yes, is reaction to that over the top - yes

I hope that doesn't offend you further.

Racism is insidious, you don't just arrive at monkey noises or terrorist chants, you start off with so called 'borderline' racism and when that isn't tackled it empowers the individual to take the next step onto a more explicit racist chant. The incidents aren't isolated and can't be compartmentalized as you attempt to. I mean, does the individual become a part time racist and only spouts off about black people/dem forruners at football or does it seep into other facets of his life? Maybe letting them know now in the strongest possible terms prevents the individual from invading mosques foaming at the mouth shouting Britain First?

Racism is organic and flourishes under the right conditions. It isn't limited to just words. That's why I believe they should be stamped on heavily, whilst it's 'only' a song about food.

Also worth noting that Millwall were charged by the FA for chanting "DVD" at Son earlier this year as apparently people of South East Asian appearance are known for selling knock off DVDs in that part of the world. So they have form for it.

Chanted it at Seol too when we played them in 2005. Dennis Wise essentially laughed it off when asked it about it.

They were also chanting 'gook' at Son.

I had one tell me on Twitter yesterday it was because he "looks obese".

Yeah, what a chubber. Up there with Robert Taylor and Tony Lange.

Fuck me. The responses to kick it out say everything you need to know about Millwall

Don't go on their forum then where the general consensus is we are a 'bunch of Northern Snowflake cunts'.

Baby faced destroyer, he is.

Hopefully we don't have to play them again for a very long time.

Could they be forced to forfeit the reverse fixture over this?

I feel bad for their players, honestly. Punish the fans, not necessarily the team. Have them play in an empty stadium (I know this indirectly affects the team, but still).

No, the worst thing if found guilty the FA will give them is another fine

They should force them to play a game behind closed doors. The FA don't have the balls for that though.
