Man City 0 - 2 Wolves: The Verdict Thread

Early Bully was very much a round the keeper man if one on one.

Rarely did he miss full stop.

Obviously I watched different games to the rest of you. Bully, clean through with just the keeper to beat would almost always fail. First time from 30 yards was a different story.

He wouldn't. IT'S JUST NOT TRUE. As I said first time finishes in the box were his Achilles Heel.

One of my first games was vs PNE at home. We won 6-0. Bully had eight shots. Four went in. Don't think anyone else did have a shot for us, we weren't actually that good.

He did miss quite a lot (not one on ones though). Didn't matter. Carry on, next one.

There were times when Wolves would be totally outplayed but still win 6-0 or 6-2, all because of Bully (and Mutch). But if he was clean through with just the keeper to beat I would groan, knowing he was about to miss.

Shame there are no YouTube highlight videos of his misses.

He did take those well, granted. Look, I would never claim to know as much as any other poster on here, but I do know what I saw with my own eyes, many times.

I mean here’s two where he is one on one with the keeper and scores. But apparently he always missed
I'm not going to start digging at people with different opinions, but I've seen more sense on the Cybertosis thread. Bully used to either sit the keeper on his arse like he did on two of those or take it early before the keeper had set himself from just outside the box. Of course he missed some, what striker doesn't, but to suggest one on one finishing was a weakness is bobbins and at that point I was there every home game and probably 3/4 away.

Can't believe sone of this.

Bully rarely missed 1 - on 1's.
Yes he miased chances they all did notlob at home the prime example.
Bully used to score one V one and if you speak to him or see interviews he took them early before the keeper got set.
Birmingham City at home being the prime example.
Weat Brom at Home clean through hit it early

Bully very rarely got into a one on one like the Traore goals. He either took it early or skipped round the keeper. Very unusual to slide it past him.

As he scored 306 goals and didn't take penalties or free kicks, you'd have to wonder how DWF thinks Bully scored his goals if 0% of them weren't 1 v 1s.

he took a few pens....he was shit at them.

That one is a BullyFACKT

There is an interview out there where he says his preferred strategy was to hit it early before the keeper had set himself

He basically said that on the Wolves Podcast the other week. No doubt he has mentioned a lot in the past though. He was always told not to worry about placing the shot, just hit it as hard as you can and shoot early. Hit hard before the keeper is set, placement doesn't really matter. Can't argue with his methods 306 goals later

Said it often enough about goalscoring, you can't coach it. You've either got it or you haven't. You can work on your shooting, sure, and as with anything, the more you practice, the more you'll probably improve (that's what I tell all the girls). You'd think with experience, you'd become more composed (although Andy Keogh's career might suggest the opposite...). But you can't mould any old player into a goalscoring machine. It's natural.
