Loan Watch 2021-22

Morgan Gibbs-White - Sheffield United, The Championship

Slotted straight into the team on the right side of a three (I think) and got a goal and assist in a 6-2 win against Peterborough. The assist was a neat pass across the box, while the goal is worth a watch - slammed in at the near post from an angle.

Matija Sarkic - Birmingham City, The Championship

Another clean sheet for Sarkic - four in six now. Made one decent stop, but didn't have much to do in a routine 2-0 win.

Taylor Perry - Cheltenham Town, League One

Played 65 minutes of a 2-1 win at Charlton and scored the second - a sliding volley on the run. Could have had a second too but the keeper saved well.

Goal on 0:40 -

Ruben Vinagre - Sporting Lisbon, Portuguese Primeira Liga

Played 70 minutes of a 1-1 draw against Porto.

Patrick Cutrone - Empoli, Serie A

Played 90 minutes of 2-1 home defeat to Venezia. Had a 25-yard shot comfortably saved.

Connor Ronan - St Mirren, SPL

Played 66 minutes of a goalless draw with Dundee. Had a shot from the edge of the area that curled just wide.

Luke Matheson - Hamilton Academicals, Scottish Championship

Played 90 minutes of a 4-0 defeat vs Arbroath.

Bendeguz Bolla, Leo Bonatini, Toti Gomes - Grasshoppers Zurich, Swiss Super League

A full game for Bolla and 73 minutes for Toti in a 1-1 draw. Toti didn't clear the ball well enough, which allowed the opposition to score one from long range. Bolla broke forward to set up Herc for a great finish to equalise. Bonatini came on for the last half an hour and missed a sitter.

Jackson Smith - Kettering Town, National League North

Won 2-0 at Guiseley

Joe Young - Runcorn Linnets, Northern Premier League Division One West

Won 2-1 at Clitheroe

On as sub: Corbeanu played the last half an hour in a 3-0 defeat at Plymouth and had a good strike superbly blocked by the keeper, Nigel Lonwijk came on for the last 20 minutes to make his debut for Fortuna Sittard in a 3-1 defeat.

Unused subs: Sanderson, Marques.

Not in squad: Giles (illness), Samuels (injured), Sondergaard, Campana (injured).

Renat Dadashov might play tonight.

Disappointing that Sanderson isn’t getting starts for Blues.

Think Sanderson has only just come back from injury hasn't he? I'm sure he will start getting some games fairly soon otherwise we will just recall him in January and send him somewhere else

Injured at the start of the season, played in a cup game, but as per the Sarkic comments they aren't conceding so difficult to argue

Blues have started annoyingly well. Even got the Tilton upper open so they can have 15k witnessing their exploits.

There are blades season ticket holders at my new work and both told me how brilliant Gibbs-White was, loved his vision and inventiveness combined with his effort.

One of them said he should have been MOTM but only missed out due to the other guys 2 goals.

Sondergaard isn't playing for Randers. Not sure why we've sent him there to sit on the bench.

I noticed Marques was sat on the bench for Belenenses too.

Sanderson is because of being injured at the start and them having a good start to the season. They got hammered during the week I think? So might represent an opportunity.

Marques only just arrived there and was away on international duty, you'd have to hope he's been assured of some game time. Good level for him to play if he does

Sondegaard one is odd but guess it's a chance for him to properly compete for a place.

Another excellent performance by Gibbs-White again today by all accounts.

Morgan Gibbs-White - Sheffield United, The Championship

A MOTM display from MGW as he helped the Blades push up the table. His assist for the opener was sublime, a first time cross onto the head of Billy Sharp from the right. Had a couple of other good efforts on target, one of them a scorching 20-yarder that the keeper just tipped over.

Matija Sarkic and Dion Sanderson - Birmingham City, The Championship

Not a good few days for Sarkic and the Blooz. Let in 4 mid-week at home to Fulham, then 3 more at Posh this weekend. Sanderson came on at half-time but couldn't do much to shore up a leaky defence.

Taylor Perry - Cheltenham Town, League One

Played 85 minutes of a 1-0 win vs Oxford. Had a couple of long-range shots go just wide.

Ruben Vinagre - Sporting Lisbon, Portuguese Primeira Liga

After getting hauled off at half-time in Sporting's 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Ajax, Vinagre played an hour the next league game. He did get subbed off just before the only goal, though, as Lisbon won 1-0.

Patrick Cutrone - Empoli, Serie A

Played 67 minutes of a 3-0 defeat against Sampdoria - set up a chance for a colleague after some good work, but he missed.

Austin Samuels - Aberdeen, SPL

Played an hour on the left in a 1-0 defeat to St Johnstone. Cut inside well at one point but his long-range shot was easily caught by the keeper.

Connor Ronan - St Mirren, SPL

Played an hour of a 2-2 draw at Hibs. Got the assist for the first after putting a searching ball behind the defence for his team mate to run onto.

Luke Matheson - Hamilton Academicals, Scottish Championship

Played the full game in a 2-0 defeat at home to Ayr

Bendeguz Bolla, Tote Gomes, Leo Campana - Grasshoppers Zurich, Swiss Super League

Bolla, Toti and Campana started in a cup defeat at second-tier Thun. Toti got sent for two bookable offences, while Bolla and Campana were both subbed off.

Joe Young - Runcorn Linnets, Northern Premier League Division One West (until January)

Helped Linnets to a record-equalling entry into the FAC Third Qualifying Round after beating Bamber Bridge 3-1. They play Gateshead in the next round.

On as sub. Corbeanu came on for the last half an hour in a 1-1 draw with Shrewsbury.

Unused subs: Sondergaard, Lonwijk, Marques.
Not in squad: Bonatini, Smith
Dadashov plays tonight

Decent finish, that. Nice way to use his 15-minute cameo anyway.
