Keir Starmer at it again..

One of the others arrested has been named by The Times as one Derek Hatton

Not good reading. Relatively unknown prior to being elected outside of political circles so that will always be damaging at this stage, but trailing Johnson rather than don't know would be a worry I'd thought even moreso when it comes to perceived handling of the pandemic

I'm not there, I just think the nation is now so politically illiterate / tribal it's nigh on impossible to cut through. Johnson also gets an even bigger platform at the moment due to Covid and pre Xmas Brexit. Him perceived as doing well on both shames us as a nation but doesn't surprise. Broadly you get the Government you deserve.

We are Nation that laps up slogans and Boris has a great team for creating them. Also we seem to love pointless nicknames and they stick. So despite SKS spending a lot of time warning the Government this is what will happen if you do that, Captain Hindsight it is...forever and will no doubt be used heavily during the next Election

I think, rather than everyone else is wrong and you are right, and eluded to in TTs post above with the tribal point, the Labour party faithful still has a large contingent of Corbyn faithful who are adamant Keir is a Tory, a pariah, the reason you lost the last election and the cause of the great lord Corbyns demise, with the mantra of 'the greatest Prime Minister the country never had' (I think based on him being principled (?) and a nice bloke). The JC Facebook page page is quite eye opening and they're longing for a breakaway party, but until Mr Starmer can unite his own party following and turn those 'don't knows' into votes for him, he doesn't really stand a chance, which is a shame because if you struggle to make headway during an apparently mismanaged pandemic then when will you?

Sadly, he's just not very good.
He's not been great so far but across Europe governing parties are doing well. I think people support them during times of crisis. Real test will be where Labour are in 2024. Can't see them getting in though without some sort of electoral alliance. They lost Scotland after campaigning with the Tories and Wales will follow.

I think that reflects a general lack of engagement in politics rather than a reflection on SKS himself. It doesn't stop it being a problem, but it's more about exposure. If you don't watch PMQ's then I'm not sure what platform he has at the moment really. Whereas Morgan is a social media expert, using shock jock tactics for clips to go viral and Rashford an England centre forward playing for the biggest club in the country.

Seems to be going for the 'say fuck all for 3 years and hope Boris fucks himself' strategy. We'll see. I'm not remotely convinced by all the flag shagging either - and neither will anyone else. Why drink supermarket cola when you've got the real thing?

It’s not an easy position for him to be fair - he’s not going to out dramatic Boris, so wants to position himself as the reliable adult in the room - but reliable adults don’t get a huge amount of notice except in a crisis, and the crisis is the governments biggest win so far.

not an easy position to be in for him.

Starmer has spent more time and energy criticising and condemning those within his own party than he has the complete failure of the government. 1 year into his leadership and he might as well not exist. He's completely useless.

I understand the reluctance and potential bad optics of attacking the Government during a global pandemic, but the moment will be gone if he tries to do it later when the pubic enquiry will go on for years and never be published or severely redacted. It's worth shouting about the contracts now to get both them and him on the publics agenda

Ministers can't be asked to resign now for breaking the law?! How the fuck does Starmer know what the public want to see?

They're asset stripping the UK.

When you realise that if they didn't have brexit then moving money offshore would have been almost impossible due to EU tax evasion laws it makes perfect sense, its not stupidity, it's theft on a massive scale.
