January 2022 Transfer Thread

They can't register players unless they sell one first because of their financial situation. In this deal they're paying Adama a nominal fee every week, we're picking up the rest of his wages and then his wages for the duration of the loan get deducted from Trincão's fee at the end of the season.

They basically get a player for free for half a season and maybe they got 'assurance' that we'd make Trincão permanent (they have to have been worrying about that considering how bad he's been) which gives them the same wiggle room within FFP that Paddy was referring to earlier.
I thought they were paying his wages? And if they’re signing him don’t they need to sell someone to register him?

Just surely there must be better options than Adama for them I would’ve thought 🤷‍♂️

Trincao is on a bigger wage than Adama.

However, he has 2.5 years left on his deal at Barcelona when the swap occurs. They paid 31 million Euros for him. So lets call that £26m. So £13m still to be amortised. But the £25m all "comes in" accounts wise. Then you take off say £6m for the book cost of the first year of Traore's contract. They are still up in FFP terms by £6m. Basically, giving both players long term permanent deals (4 or 5 years minimum) makes the FFP wiggle bigger, but there will be amortisation costs in later seasons for the accountants to crunch.

But is traore? I mean, I’m in the fan club of wanting to keep him (not on 100k per week)but with how he is rated by a lot of people on the forum it doesn’t make sense to me. Yes they save money on the FFP, (from what you say) but they’re getting a player not good enough?

Mendes swap deal.

They don't need to sell anyone if Adama isn't counting against their wage bill. We're picking up the wages but then deducting that cost against the Trincão fee.

Probably the best option they had that wouldn't count against their wage bill.

There’s no way we’ve agreed an “option” with Barca and they’ve pulled our pants down and will fuck us over in the summer.

It will have some bearing on the Trincao deal. They are probably overpaying on the option to make up for us overpaying on the Trincao deal or to make up for wages not paid to Traore until the summer.

Otherwise why would they be paying more than than the fee we agreed with Spurs.

I refer you to my answer below. This is Mendes at work. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see Riqui Puig heading our way at some point soon but the accountancy is more complex there as he is a Masia product so everything is massive profit for Barcelona if he leaves permanently (unless he were to run his contract down - but I can't find concrete information about how long he has left)

Don't know why Puig is so highly rated on here btw. Barcelona fans can't wait to get rid of him.

Discounting against the trincao fee? Meaning if we sign him it will be reduced from the 25m?

Pre-fucking-cisely. And there will be penalty clauses in both loan deals to stop either side doing the naughty and not going through with the swap. I believe its a £6m penalty in the Trincao deal, and there will be the same in the Traore deal. Well, that just balances out, you say? For FFP purposes those are straight full amount hits of £6m. You can't amortise around it.

The swap will happen.

We get Trincao for free. They get Adama for free. They give us a bit of cash on top (the difference between £25m and 35m Euros, so about £4m). For FFP purposes both clubs massively benefit in the accounts.

Yep, Adama's wages are being taken off the Trincão fee. So we're technically paying them this season, allowing Barcelona to register him, but we recoup that money in the summer when we sign Trincão for a slightly reduced price.

I guess this is an assumption and not been confirmed. I guess financially makes sense, but on what I’ve seen not sure I want trincao. Hopefully makes use of his potential

Its the only way it financially works for either club and Arthur / Pjanic shows Barcelona with a history of this.

On top of that Mendes is the agent of both players and gets fees for both loan deals and then will get two more fees for the completion of the permanent deals.

Plus the Macquarie loan now makes sense, as it has given us the cash flow wiggle room to both make Hwang permanent and exploit the FFP wiggle room to get another body in.

Barcelona are getting Grimaldo with a loan/obligation and a player going to Benfica as well btw (Baldé, Puig or Meingueza)... This is their way around their FFP/salary cap nightmare.
