January 2022 Transfer Thread

Trincao isn't free. In no way shape or form. Adama isn't free, in any way, shape or form.

There's spin and and there's Boris-esque takes.

Even if no cash is exchanged, they're assets that have a value. We've accepted a bid from spurs at c£20m, or a sell on to barca of c£30m. If we swap Adama for for Trincao, Trincao has cost £20-30m. He will absolutely have an amortisation cost on the books for the length of his contract, just as every other player in the world does.

On Trincao's wages - its difficult to imagine anybody swapping Barcelona for Wolves and also taking a hefty pay cut to make it happen, regardless of how slimy his agent is

Who fancies using this newfound wiggle room (assuming I am right, and not talking an enormous amount of bollocks, which is also a possibility) to get Vitinha and ANOther midfielder in?
Vitinha's gone. We've pissed that opportunity up the wall. We can't afford him now.

Accountancy wise that the treatment. That's all. Don't use the name of that cunt about me, ta very much 😄

We were never not going to sign Hwang permanently. That was clear from the day he arrived. We chose to 'sign' him on his 26th birthday on the 26/1, until 2026 and he wears #26... The announcement the other day was a social media stunt, nothing more.
So you’re suggesting we’ve signed him for nothing more than a publicity stunt?

Somehow, I seriously doubt that.

Birthday innit. Seem to do things for players on their Birthday now

MGW - Goal video
Toti - Debut
Traore - Sell
Hwang - Sign...

No, the timing was the stunt.

That they qualified the announcement he was remaining on loan us until July 1st.

It wasn't like say Costa where we signed him permanently in the January.

Maybe there's a semantic cross wire sitch. FFP balance - yeah, maybe the difference in values will offset the massive wage difference.
Actual money - not free.

Selling Traore and then buying somebody other than Trincao being my preference. Kid can be majestic as a footballer, but I don't think he'll be worth making our top earner for us. I think he'll end up as one of those that would look amazing at City, but make very little impact our sort of level, if we're equating expected on field influence to where they are in our wage scale

I totally understand. If it goes this way, which I genuinely believe it will, we are into suck it and see territory and a lot of it depends on how Trincao turns out. So much I like there, but the physical weakness concerns me. He has to get this league. I have hopes that when Neto is back their relationship that goes back to being 8 might be a help in his understanding, but that isn't going to stop some fucking lump bullying him.

That's what was most frustrating. It was all there, but so often he didn't show.it

Shame that those crosses usually ended up in Heath Town more often than not.

Though equally, we also saw the missing piece of Donk in that clip, how often during last season did he get into a scoring position and fuck it.

The E&S podcast is an interesting listen on the pros and cons, notably on the Trincao element. Hwang is also consistent with this forum

Basically. Albeit, one has been here 3 1/2 years, one has been here 6 months.

I'm not sure there is much more for us to see from Adama at this point - start of the season I did honestly think he might've taken a step forward, if he had scored those one on ones he had who knows how things might've turned out.

I do think there is more to come from Trincao. It might not even be this season, but Bruno's spoken well of him and I trust him to improve whatever players we have (as we've seen examples this season already). I can totally understand people thinking that's blind optimism though.
