January 2022 Transfer Thread

for me in the current market you pay a maximum of 15m for potential if youre not a big six side. Proven players over 30 can also command a fee of 15m or a little more. 25-28 proven players are 25m plus unless youre a big six side and can go shopping for megastars. We cant , we are not and we should not with our structure. Newcastle showing that having money and being able to get the right calibre is a difficult balance. We were VERY fortunate to have the Medes link to get Neves, Moutinho , Jimenez , Jota and Traore when we did. We got a good deal with Neto too and Podence seems abouit right. Trincao at 25m seems high at the moment, Semedo at 30+ also seems high and Fabio at 35 seems extortionate. I prefer the buy potential a bit cheaper but have an experinced spine. The next moutinho is due and we could get a 30 something for around 5-10m that would do that job when Moutinho finishes. I dont have a problem with that model at all. I have a problem with identifying areas for improvement and themn not actively recruiting to fill them. This window is still looking Meh atm

I agree with the underlying sentiment, but I love how everything has to be so absolute! Whether it be fixtures, results, league tables, goal records, transfers, whatever.

I wonder what is stopping us from getting this one midfielder.

No links, scurrilous rumours or even suggestions we need one from management.

It does feel like we generally don't find out about actual signings until a day or so before they're official. Jeff seems pretty good keeping secrets in that way.

Remember the journos have pointed out that the Adama deal is so known because Barca won't shut up about it, apparently we've been tight-lipped on our end.

Also hasn't Bruno said he wants a CM? Could be misremembering. S'pose it's always possible he's been impressed enough by Cundle and/or Jordao to feel more comfortable with our squad than most here do?

Just thinking out loud, really.

He has. Said in the summer we needed a different type of midfielder to the 3 we have. Gone quiet on it this wndow though

Best of luck, Adama!

Before Jeff bollocked him, it was a forward, wide forward and centre half he said he wanted for this window

I just don't think Jeff/Fosun will do it and for me, *if* that happens, it will be a massive missed opportunity.

How long we being saying this though? We were saying 2 years ago that Spurs, Arsenal and Utd and werent going to continue being so shit. And we hadn’t even factored in West Ham being a factor or Even Villa (Newcastle??). The gap next season will probably be bigger than it’s ever been.

Spurs and Utd are no better than they were two years ago and have spent fortunes to not be. Sure there's a lesson in there somewhere.

I'm not going to give up on the idea of us signing someone else yet, but the idea that it was ever going to be Renato Sanches was pure fairyland stuff.

They’ve both got rid of the main reasons they are shit. Spurs are already way better without signing anyone.

Austin Samuels gone to Inverness CT on a permanent.

Can't say I'm shocked or disappointed.

They have both more quality and depth in their squads than we do. The gap is big enough and will only get bigger. I cant see that changing unless QATAR decides to buy us.

I would put money on Spurs getting more players in than we do in the next three days.

Austin Sameuls has finally left the club.
4 and a half years ago he was the next big thing in the eyes of some after scoring in a preseason game v Peterborough.

Game also remembered for Jordan Graham constantly taking the piss out of their ful back and Joe Mason strolling around the pitch for 45 mins and giving zero fucks.
