January 2022 Transfer Thread

Hope Traore going means someone lined up by Monday and we are not pinning his replacement on a player who hasn't played for nearly a year. Huge gamble if thats the case (even though I am 99.9% sure this is the plan)
You just know there will be loads of social content around Neto coming up..

Well he is due to kick a ball with the team soon.

Had forgot about the Chiq kid as well, so replacing Traore with a lad in his break through season and 1 coming back from long term injury. Splitting the gamble.

Regardless of my thoughts on his footballing ability If we've loaned out of the few footballers that Bruno trusted as a first team option, when he's already moaned about the size of the squad, without at least replacing the body with another viable option, I'll...well, I'll moan like fuck on here. But it will be a poor footballing piece of business

Bruno hasn't been starting him, I wouldn't say he trusts him at all

He's played 1200 minutes and appeared in nearly every game. I think he's shit, but he's clearly a first team option.

He’s the most trusted journalist out there and Spurs were clearly trying to sign him, which he reported. This is a strange hill you’ve chosen to die on.
This surprises you?

Fair point, just thinking back to the last 4 or 5 games when he's had more options available to him and Adama hasn't been on the first XI

The only way this makes sense is if Adama downed tools and said he wasn't going to play for us again or Barca have pinky promised to buy him off us in the summer.

If he's here next season we done goofed

And if he does his ACL next week, we get naff all.

It does seem unlikely that the no obligation is real though, as said there's probably a gentleman's agreement that it will form part of the Trincao deal.

I’ll miss the excitement he provides, especially in that patch a couple of seasons ago when he looked genuinely unplayable for a few weeks. I’ll miss him causing havoc off the bench. I won’t miss the frustration of the lack of his end product. Hopefully Chiquinho is decent and Neto comes back well otherwise we’ve left ourselves in a bit of trouble here.

I'm pleased that he's not going to a direct rival, but slightly baffled by the loan-with-option decision. If he doesn't succeed, we'll be left with him again in the summer and he'll be worth less than he is now. I wonder if both Semedo money and possible Trincao deal will have had an influence over this.

I admit I know nothing about football financial dealings ( in fact about any kind of financial stuff) but is the 'option' tag a bit of a red herring, a bit more complicated than at first seems? Could it be there are caveats within the loan option that favour us?
