January 2022 Transfer Thread

Unfortunately I think this is probably where I am now as well. The last couple of years have been more than a bit disappointing in how the club is being run, in a number of ways. It also coincides with Jeff assembling his handpicked team to run things.

Admittedly, there should always be some skepticism applied to most things a club says as ultimately to survive they need people to give them money, much like any other business, but there is obviously an emotional pull that inherently grants them some goodwill that a normal company would not have.

I'm seeing a lot less "be grateful for what they have done, we were in League 1 not so long ago, etc" comments around now as compared to even a year ago. They've done a lot to elevate the club, obviously, but from a position of relative strength where we had the chance to push and attack the goals they themselves publicly stated they had they have let things stagnate to the point where those goals start to look delusional, rather than just ambitious.

One of the stupidest arguments I've ever heard the league 1 tripe. I earned fuck all when I was 16 so now I'm highly qualified I should accept anything more because I earned fuck all back then.

For the record, I'm not arsed if they don't want to plough money in as that is their prerogative. I'd rather they actually used the profit we achieve within the club as they have already made significant profit. What I don't like is them treating us like morons who can't do simple maths (ffp) and then making out that we have some kind of fantastic squad that can't be easily improved. Not to mention sacking the best manager we've had in my lifetime, replacing him with someone then not backing him.

I won't even go into detail on fucking Vinny either who I'd quite happily volley into orbit. Its been a catastrophe all round the past year.

I wonder if him and Botman were Shi doing the old Moxey trick of pretty publicly chasing players with no intention of paying enough, but when the bid was accepted they needed to find another excuse.

It's mad that it's come to that, but the only possible explanation for not spending money to capitalise on being in 7th is that they figured that it's not actually worth doing.

Since the window closed I've since thought them announcing very early that we'd be doing our business late in the window was their attempt to say 'Stay Calm' knowing throughout they had no desire whatsoever to spend.

Get the majority on board with the new ticket prices with new signings to surely follow...

It is absolutely out of the Moxey playbook.

I have never read so many conspiracy theories in my life, at least the Geordies had the bollox to hate Mike Ashley openly, 10 pages now (on this thread alone) of well 'I recon this happened' and 'I don't really understand it, but I've calculated we've this much money' you're all just speculating, I have worked for Chinese if they had no intention of spending they'd have told you as such, trust me, the thread title should be changed to A bunch of spoilt princesses moaning about the January 2022 Transfer Thread

Failure to strength the weak positions in the team will only lead to a slow and steady decline as more and more players that have served us well reach the end of their careers. Eventually it catches up with you and suddenly Fosun’s nominal £300m asset evaporates. Surely if they are treating us purely as an investment they know that but actions speak louder than words. If we don’t bring in a CH and CM in January it is a tantamount to putting the club up for sale.

So are you saying we have/had no money. Are you saying they haven’t been caught out lying?

No idea what’s going to happen, but saying we have a massive self-sustaining profit so should be able to use it as wolves see fit, while ignoring the huge interest free loans Fosun gave to club to enable the profit is a bit one-eyed

Thank you for illustrating my point so promptly mate (y)
My pleasure. If you have a house that has broken gutters and leaking windows and don’t do anything to mend them it isn’t long before the value if said house goes down. As a Wolves fan of nearly 50 years I don’t expect owners to do anything for the fans, they do what’s right for them. If you are an investment company and have an investment worth £300m why risk rapid decline in the value of the asset? The only way to protect the value is look after it and recent evidence suggests Fosun don’t see the need to strengthen the team so perhaps Shi thinks he can run a club on a relative shoestring by actually taking money out of the club and still retain PL stays long term. I’d suggest that is a very high risk policy.

The population of China is 1.4 billion, yet it would appear every one of them is the same and operates the same way

We as fans are not working with them though, we are customers and the behaviour I’ve seen in the last 12 months to us has been similar to suppliers I’ve used. In that they tell you everything is ok and there are no problems, until there are and you find out they’re fucking you over by selling your product elsewhere for their own ends.

I’m not saying Fosun are like that but the pattern is alarmingly similar.

Or you could save up and get better quality gutters and windows which, long term, is better value and will do better job than the gutters and windows you had before.

You could but you need to be careful that the roof hasn’t started to leak by then….

For the investment to work on both the football and none football front they need Wolves to be a PL team. They'll spend what they see is necessary to not jeopardise that. Personally I don't see any massive splurge though. A mid table finish meets what their commercial aims are

So even though we've demonstrably stopped spending money, you think we haven't actually stopped spending money, because a proven liar hasn't actually told us that we've stopped spending money?

It's not that we have stopped spending money, it's just that we haven't spent any money. Is that right?

So we haven't made RAN permanent then or took Hwang on loan is that spending no money or any money ??

This season (so far) and last seasons spending has been more or less net zero. We'll also be posting healthy profits

The seasons before that we spent, in net terms, quite a bit.

If Fosun are looking to recoup some of the money they've loaned to the club they're absolutely in their rights to do that, but just tell folk that's what they're doing.

Id like to see us spend the money the club generates, if Fosun want to further lend the club money for zero interest great, but as a minimum the club should be spending what it generates

Zero net spend for two years. That's not spending money.
Whilst arguments like these are pointless, I feel the need to comment on this.

If you walk to the shop and walk home again, have you not been for a walk?
