Ipswich 1-2 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I think it depends on how Vitor sees us playing v Spurs. You'd imagine, all things being equal, that involves starting our best player, but he might have a different plan involving keeping both Munetsi and Bellegarde in, even just for the first half?
 
It’s just as likely VP is trying to boost Munetsi’s confidence prior to dropping him for Cunha.

I don’t really know what the answer is, and it’s such an infrequent occurrence. But the ‘punishment’ yesterday is far too lenient. It’s no different really to a a defender handling a ball that’s going in really
 
It's surprising listening to Ryan Leister's podcast how few people seem to know the laws of the game.
 
Sarabia has played a part in every game since Spurs on the 29th of Decemeber (when he was injured.)

It's just him and Azzopardi on this one. Odd dynamic.

Edit - not that I'm some football laws genius by any means. But to hear DA say that he thought a freekick position for a backpass was where it was kicked from....FML.

Then then wondering why it was taken on the edge of the 6 yard box rather than on the line.

They've been watching football for about 60 years between them, have they never done any critical thinking when this situation has occured in front of them before??

Just watched the extended highlights on YouTube.

Mikey Burrows and Andy Thompson were at a loss as to why the ref blew his whistle for the Palmer back pass. Couldn't get their head around it for what felt ages and Thompson questioned why it was a back pass as he didn't pick it up...

Thank you. That's what I thought was the rule.
Edit based on Elephant Pyjamas´s update. So, was it the second touch with the hand? I thought that a foul was given if he held onto the ball.

For the goal it looks like JSL was marking Delap on the corner (he cleared the initial cross) then just drifted off Delap as the ball was headed back. Poor from him and poor communication from those around him, a bit more urgency and we don't concede there.

However, he played well and has an absolutely lovely smile 😁

The lack of knowledge from current and former professionals is amazing to me.

It also looks as though Palmer thought that because his studs had scraped the ball he was fine to touch it with his hands,from the way he was arguing with Banks. Why not just flick the ball into your hands then you Baggie/Kiddy twat!?

Genuine question: if from a backpass a goalkeeper puts his hand on the ball to stop it but doesn't pick it up, is that still a free kick?🤷‍♂️

Yes, otherwise you'd have seen loads of moments where keepers would have took the piss and utilised this.

From memory the whole back line were too high up. Once the ball went outwide to the backpost the back line should have been retreating to level with the ball, irrespective of Delap being there (even more so when he was!) If even one of them had dropped off then they’d have just booted it away.
