Good people of Britain...........PANIC

I remember when I was in Tampere studying a few years ago. The snow was there but everyone carried on as normal.

People on the train this morning clearly struggling to cope with the deadly conditions. Several of them were wrapped up like Sir Edmund Hilary as they got on the train, clearly expecting some sort of struggle akin to conquering Everest, as opposed to walking across Stourbridge Junction car park.

Really delighted to see the internet plastered with people's exceptionally original photos of the apocalypse.

Light dusting at best. It's iced over which means pavements on quiet roads (like mine) are shit but this is the kind of weather that I would back James to negotiate.

What can I say. I am one of life's optimists, I would think that shines through in my posts.

This made me laugh. I saw the first post & wanted to say your optimism is overwhelming :icon_lol:

Managed to cycle into work ok today.
Not looking forward to cycling home at 9pm though. Thinking of staying on pavements where possible.

As usual,no snow here.

Sounds a bit blowy out at the moment but I can't say how severe as I'm using Saturday as a baseline when I went out on my bike in 30mph crosswinds, gusting to 50-60mph. That was fun, honest. Great for practicing sphincter control though.

A touch blowy here now. Nothing apocalyptic, but certainly quite entertaining.

LATEST TRAFFIC NEWS.
Accident that's closed M6 North at J12 now reported to involve 15 vehicles. Congestion from J11 (Cannock)

I was in tampere last year, had a great time. Bizarre place with the massive random tower. Would like to go back one day, I really liked Finland.

My Dad worked in Tampere for a while.
Had an interesting adventure in a sauna...
When you get to the bit where you plunge yourself into a tub of heart stopping ice water, he pulled this lever (expecting more or less that) and it opened the back of the sauna and fucked them out into a soft snow bank under the cabin. The way back in was under there too.
Apparently from all the photos I have, it was very flat with hundreds of tiny island with a few dozen trees on them just about rising out of a million square miles of frozen lakes...

That sounds exactly like tampere, flat, cold and bizarre.

They built an amusement park on the edge of the island and a tall tower with a rotating restaurant on top - very good food, had a great couple of nights in there

There is LIGHT SNOW in Birmingham city centre. It has flummoxed several commuters already. One who decided to stop in the middle of the pavement right outside the station to put her brolly up. Before heading inside the station. Meaning I missed my train.

I'm not vindictive or anything, but I sincerely hope her central heating packs in tonight.

It's coming down a fair bit here but I think it's sleet at the moment.

Snowing here. Got a bit of a dusting so far.

Might I suggest that if the short delay in waiting for or getting round someone who was stationary caused you to miss your train that even without the interruption you would have been hard pushed to have boarded your chosen service?
