Giro d'Italia / Tour de France

It's part of constitutional law. You can't be sued for things said in parliament if you are an MP basically.

Quite the excoriating report on Sky (Brailsford) and thus by association Wiggins, Froome et al. I can't imagine that they will recover from this.

i'll be surprised if it changes much. it's old news and they've already been called out on it by numerous cyclists, ex-cyclists, doctors...to little effect (other than brad's slightly embarrassing i/v)
they'll just front it out and hide behind "following the rules and approvals.."

It may very well be the law but it's a bit shit.

They could (and do by the looks of things) release any old shite to the public, get their mates at the heil to publish it as fact and then get twitter to argue endlessly over it even though it's as far removed from fact as a Glasgowolf match report.

Depends on who the "reliable source" is (Froome? Sutton? Freeman?), and what, if anything, is being held back with regard to allowing them to draw such conclusions.

forgot about the reliable source tbh. btw who did sutton tell he considered the actions to be unethical? if it's public it doesn't sound like he's trying to keep his views anonymous, unlike the unnamed source.

i don't have a problem with the conclusions unfortunately. i guess they all thought the TUE would stay confidential. it's a pisser for me that he won it whilst on a PED, regardless of the TUE.

Head of world cycling says Team Sky needs to be investigated to preserve Cycling's reputation.

Lolz.

Simon Yates has looked really strong in the first week of the Giro and takes the maglia rosa today after gifting teammate Chavez the win on Mount Etna. Great finish today and shaping up to be a great race.

Just settled down to watch todays stage. Absolute beast of a climb to finish today. Really enjoyed yesterday's stage as well. Yates looks the real deal.

Yeah hoping to catch the final climb later, if he can hold onto the lead today he should hold it for the rest of the week.

Sounds like the weather is going to be shit next week. If the Zoncolan is snowed off that will be a massive shame. It's one of the best climbs in Italy, an absolute beast. Only bettered by the Stelvio.

I love it - like someone slung spaghetti down a hill. A spectacular climb. Anyway, today they have arrived in the foothills of the final test- a mere 40k uphill slog. Froome looks better today, but rain is likely.

Froome just needs to sit tight for now, think he'll ride himself into some form and should be strong in the final week. Still reckon this will end up Dumoulin v Froome, particularly with the longer TT to come.
