Coronavirus

From what I have read the Germans geared up very differently to anywhere else in the West, will be difficult to emulate. Also they have a lot of younger infected, many of whom returned from skiing holiday in Italy.

They have more icu beds and ventelators available.

Just been to local supermarket here in Spain

Extreme libertarian US Senator Rand Paul (as in Ayn Rand) the only Senator to vote against a stimulus package to combat the affects of the virus as well as being only one of eight to vote against paid sick leave has tested positive for Corona

Karma could be a bitch - hope you have your own hospital at home scumbag

He knew days ago but continued going to Senate meetings, using the gym and swimming pool, shaking hands and generally being a cunt

Also helps that they haven't been under funding their health service for 10 years too.

It's all related. Hopefully, we won't get into situation where Dr's are forced to choose between a 60 year old who needs a ventilator, and 30 year old. But that's not a situation that should be relying on hope.

You can find whitepapers and reports on the threat of this happening going back years. It is not, as Donald Trump is fond of saying ' something that no-one saw coming, no-one.'

Think the supermarket situation is settling down. Just gone to my local Asda to pick up some essentials for the Mother in Law. Shelves not so empty and got everything she requested. I even managed to find some self control and not attempt to buy everything I saw...go me.

Same here at my local ASDA, didn't quite get everything we wanted but had 80% of the stuff (mainly branded stuff that is missing), wasn't too busy either.

Do you think we should be having empty wards and beds for a just in case scenario?

Plenty of people wise after the fact right now. Usually socialists and usually the answer is to spend money.

Socialists also tend to not know what to spend money on and I can guarantee that there was no mention of ventilators or more ITU beds in Labour's manifesto alongside free broadband.

The bollocks from socialists is fucking embarrassing. Plenty you can slate this government for and their ability to make selfish decisions knows no bounds but to slate them without answers other than spending more money is just being a cunt for the sake of it.

If a full lockdown is called though, it will be the return of the loo roll riots.

My delivery is due tomorrow. Hopefully most of it turns up.

A semblance of calm in Chichester also: My wife managed to procure pasta, tinned tomatoes, kidney beans and a few other essentials. Which is lucky since not a single delivery or collection slot is available in a ten-mile radius for the next three weeks.

We have reservists in the army, navy, RAF all ready to go if we go to war, yet we don't/didn't now have "reservist" NHS staff ready to go in case something like this happened.

It would have been so simple too.

You're alright Jack, eh? So fuck everyone else. Arseholes are just like opinions. Some of them quite shitty

You must be furious Johnny, the only way to attempt to save the capitalist economy in this country as result of this, is to adopt Socialist strategies!

Did a socialist pinch your teddy bear as a child?

It was me. That's why he and I can never get along. :icon_wink:

You're american, your version of socialism is somewhere very slightly to the left of General Pinochet.
