Coronavirus

On a work note... The first resident where I work has signed off for 14 days. He does have underlying health issues and it is right that he gets himself in isolation. The overtime requests for the next three weeks have already come my way and with the number of signallers in this area that have gone on the sick it, won't be long before 12 hour shifts and emergency working is implemented meaning that we will be required to work more than the agreed 13 straight shifts with a day off. Well, I've hot nothing else to do

It's quite the thing for the Tories to have sunk from Call Me Dave (who couldn't even win a proper majority against a lame duck in Brown), to the almost cartoon evil of May, to the sham leadership of Johnson. It's like starting with Marcus Bent as your main striker and ending up with Mike Small 10 years later.

So yeah I hate them as they're shit and they've presided over a diabolical decade.

No chance the Labour Party invites the Tories in to deal with this crisis along with them. Definitely not under the current regime.

I don't disagree with that as I've said on the last page.

You and I both know that we are closer in our political beliefs than you would like to admit

I also know that you are a Conservative and will defend your corner where you feel the attacks are "unwarranted" but there is not a lot of the last 10 years that is defendable.

What I will say is not everyone who is "attacking" the last 10 years of Tory government is a Momentum member or a hard left Socialist, just normal people who can see the hurt that their years of Austerity have heaped on the NHS, the poor and the rest of the Country (but they are ok, mind you)

I think the opposition hasn't helped here. A strong opposition would've wiped the floor with Johnson and Co and probably dealt with this a whole lot better. Say Blair was in charge, he would've done this very differently and I believe we would be a lot better off for it.

The Times article this morning mentioned that Boris wants to be seen as Churchill but is going to end up more like Chamberlain.

That's the thing, I'm a Blairite really and I know they say he's a Blue Labour member but I think he was just centrist. I realise this board starts left and keeps going so everybody who thinks they're centrist is going to look left of me and I'm going to look like Reagan in some people's eyes.

Not long until Starmer.

Went to the big Sainsburys by the ring round at 12. Was pretty quiet and got the majority of things. Pasta, eggs, tinned beans/spaghetti was a no go and I couldn’t get fresh ginger so had to settle for dried.

I’ll get by without those for this week though.

By the way you can't get off the motorway to get into Newcastle (Geordie version) at the moment because...the queue for McDonalds drive thru is stretching all the way back down the A1.

People.

OK, say all governments had sunk money into medical counter measures, how should these be kept up to date? Where are they stored? What do you do with the old unused equipment/ medication? Where does the resource to make new ones come from?

It's all very well and good running models but that's just theory, the practicalities are very different.

Of course the practicalities are different, but when you see how many industries have shut down completely, the resources are there are to shift staff and tools over from working in one area, to taking up working on things like ventilator production, vaccine testing, research etc.
Things like utilising old abandoned factories and hotels for treatment or testing centres.

My point is, and the point of the simulation was to create processes to get ahead of a pandemic, proactively rather than reactively.

Going to Wiltshire tomorrow for a 'WTF do we do about Covid19' meeting.

I'd have thought a video conference would have been a great first step, but there you go.

So, the meeting was cancelled first thing but the Chairman's PA left the email in 'drafts'. Still, it was a nice 4 hour drive.

I would hope that's what the formula1 teams and some of the other manufacturers are doing now.

Protolabs was mentioned earlier, I've used them before too, pricey but if the parts are simple they have the ability to knock out the products within days.

They can turn s plastic injection mould tool round in 72 hours.

I always supposed Socialism was entwined in a spirit more than a monetary value. The current times just go to show how rampant consumerism, toxic debt and false economies will inevitably go belly up at some point. Fair to say we are heading for a global depression let alone recession. For every debit there has to be a credit and in this time of crisis the trillionaires are not coughing up it we are all being put on payback. I wouldn't even care about budget deficits and GDP's because my cynical mind suggests we are facing restrictive legislation designed to keep us in check for the next ten, twenty years. Poverty and death will be apparent on a scale never witnessed before.

Blair!!!!

That two faced lying cunt would have convinced half the country that he was the second coming (again). Then proceeded to spend every £ he could beg, borrow or steal, fuck the economy so badly that it would then take another 10-15 years to sort out, whilst checking to make sure I still had all my fingers and toes.

Remember, in 1997 he and Uncle Gordon inherited the strongest economy in living memory. Tony knew his time weas up by 2006 and then proceeded to dump Brown in the shit, and walked away to his cushy, rich life. The only person that Blair ever worried about was Blair. Remember the treasury note 'all the money has gone' left in 2010. That is socialism in a nutshell.

As for JC, he would have been worse, cos nothing would have happened yet, it would still be being debatedc in committee.

When they did finally get the emergency powers they needed, good luck getting them to relinquish control later. Its not what socialists do. They would have loved this, they can take away choice.

After all, socialists don't like giving people choice, cos they might not choose socialism.

To partly quote Johny from yesterday, I hate socialism (not socialists, they are just misguided.)

Sorry but after 10 years of almost complete and utter total shite, you don't get to "But Labour" any more, even if we ignore all the inaccuracies in there.

Aside from a fair few things i don't agree with, the most jarring is the idea that Blair is a socialist? You what?

Another clear one is that you think that Blair and Brown fucked the economy, rather than the Global Financial Crisis of 2008?
