Interesting hospital staff are now openly being critical of those who are not having the vaccine and are vocalising the impact those people are having on resources and jaded staff. Healthcare workers are renowned for giving care without judgement, but Nicki Credland (Chair of BACCN) was very vocal last week, there was a colleague of the wife’s on ITV news last Thursday openly saying the same thing, and Twitter is awash with staff across the spectrum not holding back.
With all of the eggs being firmly in the vaccination basket and healthcare professionals expected to pick up any left over pieces, there is an uncomfortable resentment building. At least there does appear to be some discussion about the previous elephant in the room - staff themselves dropping like flies and their subsequent (in)ability to provide care even at current levels.
Going to be interesting to see how that is addressed but increasing patient numbers + decreasing available staff = a crisis point that looks like it’s just around the corner unfortunately.
