Coronavirus

Germany follow France and ban British tourists and business travellers from entering.

I've know a few people that have tested positive. None of them actually feel particularly ill though.

Anecdotal of course.

Good news if this is the case with new strain.
Hospitalisations up 28% in London this week with many staff off with the virus so any news that may slow numbers down will be welcome.

Interesting hospital staff are now openly being critical of those who are not having the vaccine and are vocalising the impact those people are having on resources and jaded staff. Healthcare workers are renowned for giving care without judgement, but Nicki Credland (Chair of BACCN) was very vocal last week, there was a colleague of the wife’s on ITV news last Thursday openly saying the same thing, and Twitter is awash with staff across the spectrum not holding back.

With all of the eggs being firmly in the vaccination basket and healthcare professionals expected to pick up any left over pieces, there is an uncomfortable resentment building. At least there does appear to be some discussion about the previous elephant in the room - staff themselves dropping like flies and their subsequent (in)ability to provide care even at current levels.

Going to be interesting to see how that is addressed but increasing patient numbers + decreasing available staff = a crisis point that looks like it’s just around the corner unfortunately.

I read that about 35% of hospital admissions were unvaccinated...

I read the same.

I'm more concerned the vaccine is useless against Omicron but then data from SA says it's milder than Delta.

There are 857 currently on ventilators which is no change to the numbers in general. I can't find out how many of those are unvaccinated.

Lost my voice a couple of days ago, bit of a blocked nose, tested positive this morning at work, assistant manager locked the shop doors, not letting anyone in, customers inside were served and let out, manager will have to sort out with head office whether we shut for the foreseeable ( I think it'll be a no, because there's around 200 bikes built for collection before Christmas, and no one wants to be the one to ruin kiddie winks Christmas and get moaned at in the papers)
Just trying to book a pcr test to confirm I'm a plague carrier.

Would that mean that 350k people can attend Premier League matches on the 26th but it would be banned the next day?

Saw a graph at the weekend for the Guateng province where Omnicron first broke out, showing that the Omnicron variant has already peaked (hopefully) and numbers are dropping.

My brother and sister have tested positive today. I saw them on Friday so been to have a pcr test. Fingers crossed...

Seems like everyone I know has got a bit of a cold right now, myself included. You couldn't fucking drag me to a PCR test though, fuck that.

I had to isolate last Christmas, I'm not doing it again. There is also a chunk of me that's "those cunts don't care about the rules, so why should I".

Because you might kill someone you know if you don't?
