Coronavirus

I can't help but think a vaccinating school children would be more beneficial.

Lots of discussion on what the limiting factors are on pace - there's definitely enough doses available.
Yeah, I'm probably being a bit stupid 'waiting my turn', most people I know in my age group have just booked it without any callup.
My 182 days are up tomorrow so if I don't hear anything by then, I'll just book it on line

Just do it mate, me and the wife are having ours Saturday and we're only in our mid / late 50's, just did it online could have booked any date or time we wanted.

Cases seem to be consistently rising again after a post half term reduction.

Nothing to worry about though

Big jump in cases in Germany. 65k in the past 24 hours. We have reported 45k so they have gone past our numbers suddenly.

They’ve been doing worse than us for ages. They have 3x as many people critically ill. They are in a heap of shit and looks like it’s only getting worse.

Whatever happened there? They were the poster boys of how to cope with a pandemic at the start of all this and then it all just went pear shaped?

Northern Europe generally getting battered at the moment. German vaccination rate not particularly great.

Our daily rate per 100k is still above them.
If you look at the last couple of months our cases per day have been 10 times the rest of Europe. Now that winter is kicking in they are playing catch up whereas we pursued an unwritten policy of herd immunity in schools.

Sounds like a new delta variant that’s very infectious

Vaccination rate the same as ours.

We’re testing over 5x as much.

Do you feel the policy is wrong? If so, what would you propose to do instead?

The German rates are based on 12+ as they started vaccinating them much earlier than us, they have a lot of older unvaccinated people.
