Coronavirus

I've been chuckling at mrs jelly's non-commital replies of "oh yeah?" to her daughter/our stepdaughter.
very noticeable how the messages were framed. "all european countries have BANNED (ie suspended) astrazeneca."
we're still waiting for the reassuring messages back that use of it has resumed...

Not looking forward to seeing a picture of Alex the not so later, sleeves rolled, thumbs up, with some sort of union jack on his person as he's receiving the Anglo/Swedish vaccination.

He is on his way to get the jab right now

We were having enough trouble with anti vaccers as it was, the leaders of countries around the world that suspended AZ jabs should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves in not taking the advice of all medical and scientific evidence, far worse than any of the mistakes by Boris....blood on their hands.
there was a person on the radio this morning saying hundreds of people failed to show up their jabs yesterday.

really? 125k dead in the U.K. so far. I’ll eat my hat, coat and shoes if France and Germany get anywhere close to that for ‘blood on their hands’.

its not just the numbers, that will be difficult to gauge its the pre meditated decision to rubbish the AZ vaccine with no proof to back it up, which is clearly a political stance. Johnson has been rubbish but thats as much down to ineptitude as willful negligence imo and hopefully he will be held to account eventually on both those accounts.

I'd certainly say it's negligence to duck critical high-level meetings so you can sort out your nonsense of a private life, and also continually send out terrible messaging on a regular basis which he did all the way through last year.

He's sort of stopped doing this now, a) because Stratton briefs him better than Cummings did and b) he actually does have some good news here and there to put out rather than making shit up, however they still have to watch him like a hawk 24/7 because as soon as you give him five minutes to himself, he either outright lies or makes a ridiculous promise that he's no position to guarantee. Neither of which are ideal traits.

It'll never be the "right time" for him to launch a proper inquiry so we either won't get one or he'll be long, long out of the picture by the time it even gets going let alone finishes. As he would be hugely unlikely to be criminally prosecuted for any of this (unless they make being a fat oaf a crime) then he won't care. Say you're looking five years down the line, he'll be nearly 60 and will probably just be writing shit books/articles and giving speeches at an extortionate rate, rather than running a country or doing anything important. Not his problem.

Boris didn't actively put people in harms way.

His buffoonery and inability to make a decision will have but I don't believe he made a deliberate decision to put lives at risk for political capital. For that the EU leaders acts are despicable. Macron deserves particular ire for his behaviour and I hope AZ sue the bollocks off him along with the families he has put in harms way.

He did. Refusing to order lockdown last winter resulted in 25,000 deaths at least. Wilfully ignoring scientific advice to lockdown is no different.

So all leaders have behaved appallingly?

I dislike Johnson, don't trust him, don't rate him at all, but that doesn't mean the rest of the worlds leaders get a free ride. Johnsons decisions have impacted on our population, the stance that Germany, France etc took will impact across the world, there will be a lot of people around the world now reluctant to use the AZ vaccine.

Btw, I want to apologise for the 'worse than Boris jibe' shouldn't be inferring a league table of crapness...its not helpful in a worldwide pandemic......shouldn't really post when I'm angry at summat.

and over to France for how not to do clear messaging

Astra Vaccine
*Not suitable for over 65's, fine for everyone else
*Shit, no we mean it is safe for everyone inc over 65's
*QUICK STOP USING IT, IT'S NOT SAFE
*Oh sorry we panicked a bit there, it is safe
*Actually, we now only think its safe for over 55's to use, not so if you are younger than that.

Can't quite work out why France has a serious issus with his population getting vaccinated

So just ahead of the vaccination crisis* 660,276 jabs were done yesterday. Most we have done in a day

*crisis, as per the Daily Mail's description = ensuring 2nd jabs are the priority for 4 weeks whilst still actually doing some 1st jabs.

Whats the recommended time between first and second shot according to the producers of the vaccine to have the right protection?

Anything between 3-12 weeks.

J&J is just one shot so no issue there once that starts rolling out.

Pfizer were initially reluctant about the delayed second dose as it wasn't tested for, but data now shows that 12 weeks is fine.

So, 24 hours on from my jab... I woke up this morning aching a bit in my joints (back, neck and shoulders) but that's it.
