Coronavirus

Excuse me but some of us are still in our 30s, which is the fact.

I've only seen bits and pieces over this UK-EU spat with vaccines but the EU are having an absolute mare, aren't they?

Very much so and everytime they speak about it they seem to fuck it up more

Latest from them
"The head of the European Commission has threatened to restrict coronavirus vaccine exports if third countries do not also allow exports in a reciprocal and proportionate way.
Ursula von der Leyen says this could apply to countries with higher vaccination rates than those in the EU - an apparent reference to Britain.
Von der Leyen says the UK is the number one country receiving vaccines from the EU, but no doses of the AstraZeneca jab have come the other way.

Shall we send you all millions of doses to go in the bin as you clearly don't want that vaccine

Well it's bizarre as haven't they just decided to not administer the AstraZeneca due to the blood clot fear mongering going on? I read an article earlier where they said they're receiving exports from the USA fine but we're dragging our feet. It's very bizarre and just seems like political bad blood over Brexit to me (and because our health care system has managed to roll out a very competent vaccine programme).

Its not over Brexit but the stuff on the Astra vaccine is because they have failed to provide the numbers ordered, despite hitting targets for the UK (we ordered around 3 months before the EU so got right to the front of the queue). So since their very public spat with Astra they have been finding ways to discredit the vaccine. First we had Germany, France etc saying there would not give it to the over 65's, Macron essentially called the vaccine shit and when people started refusing the Astra vaccine and the roll out was moving as fast Roger Johnson after a session they had to change their plan. Then the blood clot issue which had led to another over reaction. It seems rather than trying to sort their shit out they are just pointing and blaming everyone else.

At some point (probably when J&J start getting their batches delivered) they will get on top of this but its a clusterfuck right now

It is a bizarre situation. Equally bizarre is that it appears that europe is seeing a third wave, and for one, the UK is bucking the trend.
politics aside, the vaccination programme in the UK looks to be having a phenomenally positive impact for us.

Close to 530,000 vaccinations done yesterday. Should be beating the record of just over 600,000 very soon indeed

Yep... the EU bloc are in a bit of a state with a third wave and it's hugely unnerving that we may be doing something right for a change...

Here in sweden Astras vaccine is suspended like in many countries because reports of blood clot and differences in blood coagulation..but its just so few cases, think it will be on again very soon..a few of my friends has already got the Astra vaccin, they work in the health care

Spoke to my sister in Denmark yesterday (well by email) - few can understand why they have stopped using the Oxford one whilst still using the Phizer vaccine when both have similar numbers of blood clotting incidents.

Has clearly slowed down the roll out there.

So after this next bit we hit supply issues for a while.

I'm fine with that, I don't need it (more chance of me being killed crossing the road) but by the same token I'm not having me being excluded from doing stuff just because I'm not an old fucker.

Also, that documentary doesn't look such a brilliant idea now, does it.

Just seen that on the news. That’s rather depressing, was really hoping we could get our 2 doses in before August and have a hope of a holiday. No chance of that now.

So, shock horror, Hancock for some reason couldn't tell the truth this evening.
Not a supply issue but going into April concentrating on getting those 2nd doses into the vulnerable groups before starting, officially on the next group of people.

J&J when approved will be here in July, so still a chance if you get that one.

It looks like a months delay. Maybe we just buy up all the unused AZ from Europe instead 🤷

Surely they’ve learnt over the last 12 months that the public will accept the truth.
If Prat Hancock had said yes there will be supply issues next month but we’re still on target to meet our previously stated targets then i can accept that. When he avoids the question, blames it on bumps and that the letter to health boards is a standard one then I’m afraid that he ends up looking stupid. You can tell just by looking at him that he was uneasy with crap he was coming out with.

I’m due on a cruise around Scotland at the end of July. As it stands, I don’t need to be vaccinated to go but that could change so this delay could balls it up for me ☹️

It isn’t with P&O then? They announced today that vaccinations were required for passengers on uk cruises.
