Coronavirus

Why do idiots think typing 'close the schools' after every single post on twitter will do anything? Why not just type 'Announce Afobe' - its as much use. People are idiots.

Starting to impact properly now - my family trip away next week is now off as the firm concerned are closing all sites for 3 weeks from Friday (suspect it will end up being for longer than that). Options of rearranging with a £100 discount or cancelling and getting my money back.

Problems now with staffing the charity I help run which operates a shop selling consumable goods/equipment for the elderley or disabled. I am actually one of the younger ones involved (even if that would seem to those on here who know me to be impossible!) and a number have underlying health conditions or care for someone who does. Have already had to insist that at least 40% of our volunteers do not come in & though I don't normally do shifts in the shop as deal with the finances will be in there tomorrow morning as there's no one else.

We will have to partially close now without doubt though want to be able to at least open for a couple of sessions per week as we sell specialist stuff you can't get from pharmacies & act as a supply point for NHS hearing aid batteries (fortunately someone was able to collect more stock this morning) - if the elderley are to be isolated not being able to hear anything as well is going to make things a whole lot worse.

Didnt i hear that this virus produces no flem?, a dry cough but not a full on, old man bringing up flob spitting in the gutter thingymajig.

Can I please just change the tone of this and congratulate you for reminding me of the seldom used medical term 'flob' its been eons since I last heard that.
Thank you Sir !

Over the coming days you will see the forced closure of pubs, clubs and restaurants, non essential shops.
Army and police on the streets preventing non essential travel.
Limiting of grocery shopping due to shortages. Rationing.
Complete areas in 'lockdown'.
Religious centres, chuches, mosques etc closed.
All sporting events cancelled.
Families quarantined.
No option.

Believe emergency powers on Thursday.

Three companies now in China offering me masks. $2.20 per unit moq 10k. Can't afford them - spent all my money on stock that I can't sell. Lol.

Tough luck on the bar staff who serve him too. They should have worked harder at school and got a better job.

Quite. In fact anybody on minimum wage. People need support but you'll get some smart arse telling them to sign on (as the unemployed tend to cope etc etc etc)
The workers rights in this country are not up to scratch. EU not much help there ...

So was sent home having had contact with the close relative of a confirmed case. work told me to isolate for 8 days.
that's now been extended to indefinitely. expect work site to close within the next 10 days. everyone will be working from home only. daily check in with manager.

avoiding contact with parents. not telling them about the potential contagiousness yet, especially as mum is a worrier.
also having to avoid step family, youngest step daughter has a child who is non verbal autistic, with severe asthma, and possible c palsy.

british crown green bowling association have apparently cancelled the start of all bowls seasons.

the panic buying appears to be spreading from what I can tell.

It really does vary. Some supermarkets are getting ransacked non-stop, others are a bit diminished but generally ok, your smaller local shops seem to be fine.

Obviously if people stopped being absolute cunts none of this would be an issue but then this is the world we live in. Problem is that at some point, someone's going to get their head caved in when they start acting the prick and lamping 30kg of pasta into their trolley or whatever.

Managed to get a delivery from Asda sorted last night, won't be here until a week today though (we now just hope that they have most of the stuff, did see that toilet roll and tinned tomatoes from my last order before all this kicked off are already marked as out of stock). Everything this week in terms of delivery slots is totally gone.

The worst aspect of this so far has been just how utterly selfish a large sub-section of people are, no consideration for others at all. This is what 40+ years of an "I'm alright Jack" and "you get what you deserve" mentality being preached has led us to.

Slightly more heartening has been the number of people offering to help those in need although if there's bugger all in the shops to buy, then offering to pick stuff up isn't going to help much.

Bowls England for us lot have a full management meeting on Thursday & will decide and disseminate to County Associations & clubs, but would expect all leagues to get pulled. Nothing due to start till mid April so no PL style aggro over league position.

The latter point is getting worse - god knows where some people are putting all of this stuff!

Anything happens to him,or any other MPs family members, they'll be at the front of the queue for treatment and stuff the rest of us

Not the case Keef. See the Dorres / Bridgen spat from last week.

It all doesn’t add up. Someone is withholding info somewhere, or releasing incorrect info.

The death rate was/is apparently minor, and is only affecting the vulnerable. So in which case, it isn’t much to worry about as a population. Yes there will be some unavoidable loss of life, but generally speaking we will be ok.

They are also saying China are over the worst of it after a couple of months with a minimal isolation period.

However I have friends who are Dr’s saying ITU is oversubscribed already, including people in the 30-50 age range, and that they are understaffed and running out of equipment. Now this doesn’t correlate with the “most will be ok” narrative. It also doesn’t correlate with the herd immunity method, and certainly doesn’t suggest 2 weeks isolation will be fine. Particularly when they are saying 12 weeks.

It all doesn’t make sense, and the science isn’t adding up. And I can’t find the science to make my own educated opinion. It’s all guess work.

Most ITUs were running at over 90% capacity anyway, we've got just over three thousand beds so it doesn't take a lot to become oversubscribed

No doubt it's the Conservatives fault that people are panic buying when more likely it's some warped aspect of the 'survival instinct' kicking in. I think it's more a case of x amount of people cannot survive without the state and blame everybody else when the bubble gets burst.

Yeah, all canoeing/kayaking events cancelled until May. Bit of a pisser as I've been training like buggery for six months to do the Devizes to Westminster 24hr race at Easter. I've got the body of a Greek god now and it's all going to go to waste while I sit on my sofa eating crisps for two months.

For eight out of ten people the prognosis is excellent. Yes a few shitty days but we'll get over it. People need to stop being selfish, seeking attention and concentrate on those who are truly at risk and the incredible people on the front line who are there for them. Moaning about theatres, cinemas and pubs closing is low form if you ask me.
