Coronavirus

Jesus wept I've just seen someone I work with share this on Facebook.

This is the kind of faulty reasoning that makes people lose any common sense in these sorts of situations.

Just overheard a conversation in the office that someone is currently being tested for the virus and are waiting for the results...

Ibroprofen can weaken your ability to fight it apparently, although obviously isn't some sort of attractive agent like the batshit post.

I've had some medication I'm on changed because of a concern that it would make me more susceptible

I refer you to your recent comment about people being dicks. I've already had one person come to see me at work explaining they've been advised to isolate, so they are wondering what this means for their uni attendance.
so, said idiot rang me this morning confirming father has been confirmed with the virus, and paramedics have again advised the whole family to self isolate.
so I'm being sent home to work from home for a week.
fucking idiot!

Boris to start giving daily tv reports from today......not sure what they can tell us but hopefully will caln people down

Those people will probably never calm down, regardless - some people just love the drama.

Im just shocked that i must have totally ignored any news and panic that was happening at the time.
Judging by disasters such as Hillsborough and Aberfan, the media should have been talking about days of multiple deaths for years later.[/QUOTE]

Justice for the 80,000!

Now you tell me. Lol.
Cricked my back/hip this morning, took 400mg Ibuprofen.
Just took another 400mg five minutes ago.
Thought I'll get a cup of coffee and have a look at the forum.
Doh!

They've been saying at work today that they aren't testing any more because of a shortage of testing kits. Just self isolate of you have symptoms.

One of the girls in my team has a cold and has basically got tues-fri off. No temperature, no persistent cough.

Bloody annoying.

Maybe slightly different in the UK than over here in the States. But was told the person lives in Athens TN and is waiting for results in Knoxville

"The number of deaths in Spain has risen to 297, and there are 8,744 confirmed cases across the country, health authorities said on Monday. Just over 40% of those infected with the virus are currently hospitalised."

That last sentence is going to be the real issue, not necessarily the amount of deaths. Really difficult to see how any health system will be able to cope. The population won't stop having its usual health issues for the duration of the virus. This is why there's so much media coverage and apparently OTT reaction. Comparisons to previous flu epidemics aren't really relevant.

Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory, and inflammation a key component to healing. So on a purely basic science level it will lower your immune system(inflamamtion attracts White blood cells etc). But on a more detailed level, with ibuprofen being a pretty weak NSAID, and the OTC dose (400mg) being pretty minimal, i can’t see it making too much/any difference, and certainly not to a level you’d be able to record, analyse and prove statistically.

It’s more relevant to knee operations etc. Ibuprofen will delay bone healing and make minimal difference to inflammation so after the initial few days of “shit I’m in pain” you should try and avoid it and take other stuff I.e paracetamol or if you need something else stronger then opioids.

You'll be able to mooch around in your housecoat and get paid for it,look on the bright side

Two things unrelated.

My little boy is not in school because he has a cough and cold. It is a cold as he doesn't have other symptoms (fever, dry cough) and does have a runny nose, like you would do with any cold. The look on the teacher's face was one of horror and one of the parents earwigging (nosey cow) audibly gasped and took a step back.

The ignorance is staggering and just shows the general public, when ill educated and whipped into hysteria by a ludicrous media response, are utter cunts.

Secondly, in my local shop. Two customers, both in their 60's at a guess, had 9 toilet rolls each. First customer leaves normally, next guy is told by the shopkeeper that is his last purchase of toilet roll for the day. As it transpires the twat had been in twice already and bought a pack of 9 each time. It was 9:15 in the morning.

Ignorant fucking idiots.

I just bought a pack of toilet rolls from the garage shop because we are actually running out at home and I couldn't get any in Aldi on Saturday. I felt so judged walking back to the office carrying my ONE standard pack of bog roll.

I really really hate the general public.

Well it was 28,000 but yes.
Say last time, we put that virus period over (being generous) 6 months, thats 150 odd folks dying a day back in 2015.
Did those in charge not learn anything from a mere 5 years ago, were things not put into place should it happen again?

I work for Sainsbury's so seeing the cuntishness up close.

Young mother came in yesterday, verge of tears, taxi waiting outside she'd been to four other supermarkets for nappies for her baby, we had none.

The new craze is buying formula milk In case of milk and UHT shortages. I wish I was joking.

Policing it is impossible, our tills have new prompts so people can't buy more than five if any item (even different brands i.e Baxters and Heinz soup) but nothing is stopping people going back through self scan as Johnny is alluding to.

I have found that potty training wipes are in good supply. Sod loo roll stay fresh with two sheets!

Not entirely sure but I would imagine it was fairly reflective of what happened in the UK.

The difference is that 2015 did not lead to legislation which further erodes our freedoms in fact if this legislation had been proposed prior to coronavirus there would have been public revolt. Much the same happened with the drone incidents at Heathrow and elsewhere. Create a problem, manipulate the reaction with the media etc and bingo you get your solution. As it stands you've got the sheep panicking and buying toilet roll who will succumb to anything just so they can be ' saved '. It's the 9-11 effect ...

Personally, I feel globally somehwere along the way we are heading for a mass revolt, a complete rejection of the system by the population and they are just putting in place measures to keep control of the proles. Plus it suits the ' suits ' to have the stock market crash every so often as it makes them money. As such in a couple months time this will blow over and the reporting will change dramatcially ..

Apparently an anti-vaxxer acquaintance said pretty much similar to my ex. The same one who's son passed on whooping cough to my then 6 month old daughter
