Coronavirus

I didnt want to just copy the entire abstract. smashes both the myth that children don't catch CV-19 and that 'herd immunity' works.

I hadn't heard the myth that children don't catch it, only that they might not infect others.

I read the report slightly differently, they're saying they're nowhere near herd immunity rather than herd immunity not working.

there is still a remarkable amount of disinformation flying around, most of it aimed at getting people to go back to a more normal way of life as per pre crisis, which is sickening to be honest, it's profit before lives. I'm not disagreeing with your conclusion, I think it shows both

a couple of weeks ago when people first started getting bored with the lockdown one govt adviser was quoted as saying it was imperative that people stuck with it for the safety of others, whilst a second 'senior' govt adviser was quoted as saying the lockdown would end when 'the people' decided it was time to end it.

I honestly think the Government want the public to give up...back to the will of the people. Not our fault, you decided you didn't want this anymore.

Papers being given bits of what is ahead then the Government deny those reports then confirm then deny. All done to confuse and play on the anxiety of people

It very much looks that way. ' The people have spoken, and I am a man who listens to the people.....' it very handily absolves the Government of responsibility of any its aftermath as well. It may sound conspiratorial but I still think there#s a reason those Nightingales, that can only be used for one purpose are sitting there waiting to be used

How it's panning out isn't too bad, we've got a gradual increase in people being more mobile which is much better than everyone increasing their mobility following a change in policy.

Whether that's by luck or design who knows. That said, there has been a very clear message from some newspapers that lockdown is ending whilst the govt have said it isn't. You can be sure some people will believe newspapers over the govt and the govt know this

The Nightingales were only ever there as an insurance policy - how many years have you paid insurance, for various things, and not claimed.

There was a poll done quite recently on current attitudes towards the media and the prevailing opinion was that the media couldn't be trusted. When asked what they were basing their current opinions on a majority responded on what the media said.

Tabloid readers seem to believe whatever their favourite rag says and take their lead from whatever opinion is forced on them, without questioning why or bothering to scratch beneath the surface of the message they're being fed

Yet the same wasn't applied to vital protective clothing. It took 9 days to build the London Nightingale and even when it must have been clear it was not going to be fully utilised we continued to build more

And if we hadn't built them, and the rest of the hospitals were overwhelmed, people left to die in the car park, back of ambulances the public would have been moaning about no hospital beds.
The nightingale hospitals have been maybe the only thing the government got right

The PPE issue and the Nightingale hospital are not related - they got the first thing wrong & if the extra beds weren't needed then I am happy that they weren't.

If they had been needed and not there some would be 'up in arms' over inaction to prepare.

Tabloids count for fuck all these days. Circulations are nothing compared to the msm.
Particularly since the 'lockdown'.
Who buys a paper?

Just arrest the twats.
Don't give them 'ammunition'. Either figuratively or literally. Lol.
