Coronavirus

Sadly those wankers give anybody on a bike a bad name, like golf bores, socialists and uber geeks, they're all striving to be better than their fellow man at something else.

Yep. Every category has wankers, even capitalists :)

Spurs reverse their decision to Furlough non playing staff.

The message needs to stop being ' I know this is hard, but...' to 'It ISN'T hard, stay in'. The people causing others to get pissed off are using the current mantra as an excuse to ignore the spirit of the guidelines

Half of the sensible people on here were getting pissed off with other buying easter eggs, so at the end of the day someone is always going to get angry. In Bavaria we're in lockdown too but this kind of activity is rightly still going on, groups of people getting together for a barby on the other hand....

The thing is with runners who go out a lot, we're already pretty experienced at manoeuvering around people, we're used to it. The biggest problem I'm finding when I'm out is those people who are not used to it and completely lack awareness of others and are oblivious to what is going to happen. The worst by far, in my experience, are 'casual' cyclists and dog walkers. They have no concept of how to avoid others and constantly cause problems.

Yep, completely agree. It's the casual walkers in groups of 3 or more who wont go single file when passing people, meaning there's no space to pass them. I end up having to run on the roads quite a lot to pass them at a safe distance.

I did, my point was there are groups emerging (age, gender, ethnicity, viral load) that are giving us a good picture of who is most vulnerable but not the reasons why.

I'm sure more will emerge as the days go on.

Maybe because the majority of cases are in the cities (far denser population) which are far more diverse. The common denominator is age and comorbidity but the figures may also be affected by the way people worship and how many people live in a household.

I'd contend that half of the sensible people are quite correct. Nipping out to buy chocolate doesn't in anyway fit in with the spirit of Govt guidelines at all. Would you call it an essential journey? The point of the lock down is to minimise contact with others, the more people go out on a whim the more contact with others they have.

The common denominator is that they had coronavirus

If I haven't got Easter eggs for my kids then I'll pick some up as part of my normal shop, but I wouldn't go out especially for Easter eggs - but then I wouldn't anyway

I think I've been out of the house 5 or 6 times in the last 4 weeks. 3 shops and a few walks round the block with the kids because they're going mental.

I've had a look around to see the impact of recession on mortality and it seems that recessions actually decrease mortality.

How so? Would have thought poverty is linked to life expectancy.

Totally thought the same, but then if people aren't working they get time to do more activities beneficial to health, less drinking after work, less smoke breaks, less work related stress. I was totally expecting to see a link between recession and life expectancy reducing. However, this is in high income countries, middle to low income countries might be worse off.

I'm not nailing my colours to the mast here, more surprised that recession might be good for your health

So why are the amount of people from ethnic backgrounds that are infected disproportionate to the demographics of the UK?

There may be cultural aspects of way of life, it may be many things, until someone gets to the bottom of that it isn't possible to say. I think everyone is fully aware of my feelings on the co-morbidity and age argument, where I get my opinions from on that, and who I choose to believe and why. Which is essentially, who's opinion on football would you value more, Nuno or a bloke down the pub?

Both Spain and Italy lifting restrictions so the guesswork now is when the second wave will start to hit.

Okay which experts do we need to listen to and on what reasoning are you basing your decision? Does this also mean we cannot state an opinion on here unless we cite an expert ?

Do you agree with the suggestion that regardless of ethnicty the greater likelihood of death from the virus is dependant on age and comorbidity?

I do all of our shopping etc, my Mrs won't go out during peak daylight hours due to the attitudes of people still travelling into the area to get to our local Tesco mini, we don't have a chest freezer, we don't have a massive fridge so I've been out a bit more frequently than that, but it's at bang on 8am when they open to avoid the masses when it's empty.

Not sure what they're searching for but when I'm having a cig out the window, more and more people leaving the store empty handed, probably eggs or bread which aren't put out on display in full shelf numbers anymore so they can make sure the immediately local population can always be sure they're can get some.
