Coronavirus

Japan and their Asian contemporaries largely are doing well because they've dealt with multiple such outbreaks in very recent history. They know the signs and they know the actions to take, and they know how serious it is if they don't.

They're practiced at this sort of thing.

People here whingeing about their erosion of freedom like being bollocked for going miles to beauty spots....just seen on the news a big group of people in India being hosed down with disinfectant

I sneezed in the grocery store today. People did NOT like that

Trump still pushing the malaria vaccine I see. He feels he has to be right. Preferably before November.

Mr Trump says the projected numbers of coronavirus deaths are "sobering", especially as 100,000 is a "minimum number".

"One hundred thousand, according to the modelling, is a very low number," he says. 15, AND THEY ARE GETTING BETTER, ITS VERY LOW

Mr Trump has criticised those who want to "ride it out". LIKE YOU LAST WEEK, LAST MONTH

He says "a lot of people were asking" whether Covid-19 was comparable to the flu, "and I was asking that also". DICKHEAD LYING HERE

"But its not the flu. It's vicious." AH - THE TRUTHFUL BIT - PROBABLY PELOSI TO BLAME

Mr Trump has been criticised for downplaying the pandemic for weeks, and saying that it may pass by like the seasonal flu. On 24 March, he told Fox News that "we've never closed down the country for the flu."

And this shit is why a fuckload of Americans will die because you have an idiot in charge.

The US tops 3k deaths. More deaths in the US than reported in China.

I think "than reported" is a key figure there

but yes, we're doin great over here

Christ, Toby Young is a piece of shit.

Not breaking news I know.

There's a lovely tweet to him on there from someone saying ' oh yes, I used to think this, but now a relative of mine has it, it's not just the proles that are getting it, so now I firmly believe the NHS should be providing a ventilator to every home and one to one care for all until Oscar is nursed back to health and damn the cost the economy! '

Or something like that

just been to my big town, for the first time since pre lockdown.
Lidl had about ten people max in there, some with masks a few more with gloves but mostly old and thus the two metre distance just didn't come into it. People simple don't understand coronavirus at all, certainly not out here in the sticks.
However the whole town was a ghost town, atm's open, banks closed. One kiosk open selling fags etc with red and white security tape around it at one metre.

We are still getting people arriving from Athens to stay in there summer homes, but apart from the fact that everything is closed in the village, they keep coming from Athens. What the hell they will do here if they get corona fuck knows, we have two small cottage hospital/clinics within 50 miles of us, from where in the past any serious injury and the patient was bunged in a taxi for a minimum 150 mile trip to the nearest general hospital, we don't really have ambulances in truth.

A mate of mine from Germany arrived five days ago, and is now going nuts. No bars, tavernas open and people won't let him come to their houses, even other germans who live here, and to get back to germany he needs to wait maybe 15 days for a very expensive flight.
He is an ex police inspector so no dummy... you would think? so what the fuck was he thinking...

People are now becoming very scared here, especially surprising as our figures are still relatively low, although in Athens you have more chance of winning the lottery than getting a test if you aren't already on your death bed.

This fucking virus is here for a long time yet, but on the bright side (if there is one)it looks more likely by the day, tha i will have the beach virtually to myself in the August peak period.

"Britons spent £160m more on alcoholic drinks from supermarkets and off-licenses in the first three weeks of March in a coronavirus panic booze buying frenzy, according to data released on Wednesday.

In total, shoppers stripped £840.5m worth of beer, wines and spirits from the shelves from the beginning of the month to 21 March compared to £676.2m in the same period last year, the Grocer reported. £365.5m was spent in the week to 21 March alone.

By comparison, last Easter people in the UK spent £320 on alcoholic drinks, while in the week of last Christmas drinks cabinets were stocked up to the tune of £531m."

Amazing what happens when you can't go to the pub!

I miss the pub...

My local has set up a virtual pub on Facebook and all the regulars go on there to play games and chat. It's pretty good actually. People with dart boards are playing games against each other using houseparty and sharing the results on the page! Probably going to end up having a pub knockout tournament!

Don't wind him up, he's already been done by 1 April Fool today

Confirmed that 1 person from my place of work died in the night. Yesterday we were told there were 8 confirmed cases.

Sadly, deaths are up by 563 in the last 24 hours. I hope that I can survive the next 4 weeks without the virus else there's not going to be a bed for me.
