Every fucking time these grandstanding journalist cunts can’t just ask one question. Wankers.
New gig starting for me in the next few days. Helping deliver mail, fetch food/prescriptions, make a few phone calls where necessary. All through the local church after they pushed a card through my door earlier. I'm not religious in the slightest but this is a community thing, we have an alarming amount of old people here and they need help. If I as a relatively (!) healthy bloke can do a bit then I will. Not like I have anything else to do.

Read a few things that allude to general cultural/lifestyle things over there slowing it's spread significantly. Without wanting to plunge into a world of stereotypes that would make Alan explode, things like wearing masks in public a lot more commonplace over there, people generally more courteous and less touchy feely and a generally quite disciplined that helps with adherence to government guidelines etc. are the sorts of things that I've seen alluded to.How have Japan fared so well in all this? Don't they have a large percentage of older relatives living with large families all together?

I'd imagine the bigger benefit of masks it stopping infected people spraying it out with every cough or sneeze rather than preventing new people from picking it up. It's not as if it's airbourne and having that constant filter on your breathing is reducing your chance of picking it up.
I guess for somewhere like Japan with fairly widespread use they see the benefit, transmissions become more infrequent as so many contain their outgoings. Not going to see much benefit with sporadic use as they don't prevent you picking it up when others have coughed and sneezed all over surfaces that are touched by others.Precisely right - the benefit is in spread if you have it, not in keeping the virus out.
