I wonder how long it will take a grounded airline to chew through £250m. Probably not very long.

Branson AND Virgin Group are putting 250 million into Virgin Atlantic after being slammed for asking his staff to take 8 weeks unpaid leave and saying he was ging to ask the Government to bail his airline out.

His personal wealth rose 500 million in that time.

The alcohol point is a valid one indeed.

If you have people completely furloughed then every day is going to be like a Saturday or Sunday. I certainly don't normally drink as much during the week in normal times because there is work taking up so much of the day. I am going to have to be really disciplined doing jobs round the house and garden and I need to strictly rule that the yard arm is 6pm in the week and not midday like I have enjoyed it being at weekends. Otherwise I am going to be demolishing beer, my bank balance, and not to mention my bloody liver.

There are so many jobs round the house that will need doing. So I am sure the days will get filled.

I'm going to have a bloody lovely garden by the time this is over, I reckon.

We also need to really think about mental health. I have been absolutely fine so far until this morning, when the most hideous panic attack going. Dreadful. Much better now after having a lie down and practising some breathing exercises to hold off the hyperventilation.

We have a great book called The Idiot Brain by Dean Burnett. Really excellent advice from a neuroscientist. I delved into it, thought about what he was saying, and it was a lot easier to calm my troubled mind.

I recommend anybody having difficulties while cooped up try and get hold of a copy.

Have come on here for my daily chat (even if it's a virtual one) with someone.

The point about mental health is really valid - was talking to my ex wife (we are seperated, but still amicable) yesterday and it was clear to me that she was clearly stressed about the state of her fence which was leaning over & it was windy. One of our sons lives close (& the most likely of us to be able to sort it properly), but she wouldn't ring him to come & deal with it, even if only with a temporary solution, as she didn't want to trouble him.

Knew that she wouldn't be able to sleep so phoned him & bluntly 'asked' him to go & sort it out. He phoned back 1 hr later to say that he had.

Every morning, from 7am onwards, I can see people walking out of our local store with cases and cases and bottles and bottles of alcohol each

And they'll be forming habits that'll be very difficult to remove when this is all over especially if they are unemployed etc and it's a heavy depressant. I can't sit in judgment because without elaborating Alcohol is a no-go area for me. Maybe plans should be put in place to alleviate the fall-out from this virus but I suspect the collateral damage will be higher than deaths from the virus. That fine balance between normality and saving lives.

How would you feel if someone 'redistributed ' your wealth ????

Wealth hoarding by the super rich is a moral crime and yes they should be fucking punished after all this.

Well him and the rest of them should downgrade their yachts and fund a hospital or two. Not detracting from his skills in business, innovation or the amount of jobs he creates.

Of course, every one us who bought a copy of Never Mind the Bollocks assisted his enrichment scheme. It's the great rock n' roll swindle!

Living just feels like existing for the sake of it at the moment, no work, can't go anywhere, can't see anyone, nothing to do, nothing happening, nothing to look forward to. There's no purpose to anything, no structure anywhere and then you chuck on how much more difficult is to just to have the essentials around to live modestly.

At some point you do question what the point is.

He's a busy man, he's got spaceships to build, it must be hard for him to put time and effort aside to help the country he avoids paying so much tax in.

I'm waiting to see who says theyre organising the first star studded charity event that everyone can donate money to.

Mate, don't talk like that, that's worrying.

My wealth always has been redistributed but I am specifically talking about the Billionaire club.

There is no need in this day and age for so many to be so wealthy. Close on 2500 Billionaires in this world. I would tend to differentiate between Branson's personal wealth and Virgin in itself.

Wealth hoarding by the super rich is a moral crime and yes they should be fucking punished after all this.

And you all have as much right to tell them what to do with their personal money as I have to tell you what to do with yours !

I have to keep telling myself there are a lot people worse off than me (I don't mean financially).

And we don’t eat what others would consider weird things? And we have had anything to do animal extinction? Excuse me while I just go and shoe all these wolves and boar off my front garden [emoji849]
Saved me some keystrokes.

Except isn't it now generally acknowledged that the story of Covid 19 coming from someone eating bat soup is pretty much a load of bollocks.

Wuhan is where the Chinese have industrial sized labs working on biological warfare testing and virology. Coincidence? Maybe but maybe not.

I keep telling myself that the first pint in a pub when restrictions are finally lifted is going to be the best-tasting pint EVER. Something I can look forward to with a bit of relish.

I must admit that the sudden lack of structure in my life has become really un-nerving.

Some mildly positive news over here: an increase of 8.5% in cases today, where there had been expectations of 30% and it was projected that there would have been upto 15,000 cases by the end of this month whereas there is around 2,500

There have been a couple of days of consecutive drops from Italy as well.

Its down to hideous from catastrophic but it is a start, I hope.
